In the News: 2 New Locations Open

February 26th, 2008 · 21 Comments

Over the last week two new Costco warehouse locations have opened. One in Woodland, California and the other in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Colorado Springs’ first Costco location opened on Wednesday, February 20, 2007 at 8 am. There was already a line forming at 7:30 am! Previously, Costco fans would have to drive to Denver to get their Costco fix (not that it stopped some of them, I’m sure). Read more about the grand opening, including how they doubled the number of Costco memberships in the Colorado Springs area on the opening day, here.

The new location in Woodland, California opened Friday, February 22, 2007 at 8 am. They saw a pretty steady flow of around 600 customers per hour! The Costco is located in the new Gateway shopping area (also, coming to this area is one of my other favorites, In-N-Out Burger). Read more about the new Woodland Costco, here.

We recently moved to Bismarck from Huntsville Al and we miss Costco very much!!!! Please put a Costco in Bismarck this place is booming and could really use a Costco!! The mall is so much busier here then in Huntsville and my husband always says its because of the oil boom and people have money to spend.

    Thank you,
    Becky

I agree that with things growing so quickly in Bismarck they need to put one in. We just moved here from a big city and they definitely need to get some better stores and Costco would be a great start.

We moved from Gig Harbor Washington to Bismarck ND seven months ago. This is a boom area with the oil fields, however, it really, really needs a Cosco!!!!! All they have is Sams Club and this is a poor immitation of Costco. Please, please put a Costco in Bismarck or Mandan ND. We sooooo need it!

I would LOVE to see a Costco come to The Kalamazoo area! I was a member to The Grandville Costco but because it is an hour drive.. its not worth The dues for one Maybe two trips a year. I have been a member of both Costco snd Sams. Costco hands down!

And exclusively to Costco, I LOVE their make up and skin care line!

Oh! And who could forget The beautifuly packaged mint cookies at Christmas time….. I walk out of there w/ min 12 boxes! So please bring Costco to kalamazoo…..because every year I run out of room and have to make sacrifices to get things home.

We recently moved from Omaha to Port Orange Florida, which is the Daytona beach area. We joined Costco in Omaha about a year before moving and loved it.

We were disappointed to find out the nearest Costco is in Altamonte Springs which is about 45 miles away. We still visit that location one or twice a month but we are really looking forward to someday have a location somewhere in Volusia county.

I hope we will hear of a new store announcement closer to home.

How about a Costco in Lake Havasu, AZ. Nearest one is over two hours away. Even Sam’s Club is 1 1/2 hours away. Any plans for one in Lake Havasu?

Regarding the new Costco in Newburgh, NY, it looks like we wait some more. They signed up for the new shopping center The Marketplace at Newburgh along with a Best Buy in 2008. Last month the following appeared in the newspaper:

“In 2008, Wilder Balder Partners had announced the signings of Costco as a 150,000-square-foot anchor and Best Buy for a 30,000-square-foot location. When plans slowed while the nation’s economy tanked, both retailers reportedly withdrew and sought to renegotiate their deals.” …..excerpted from the Times of the Hudson Valley, April 10, 2010.

    “renegotiate” could mean anything.

When will Costco quit building warehouses on Long Island and spread thru out the state? There is no Costco in Albany, the capitol, or any of the other large cities. Only around NYC.

Hi, We love our Costco store in Wyoming, Mi. We spend a few months in Florida (the Destin Area) and really wish there was a store near us. Do you have any plans of locating in the Panhandle. We would be willing to drive 100 miles to go to your store. Please consider a location near us. We are sure you would not be disappointed in the results. As a real estate broker, I can assure you that there are several locations that would be suitable, and not tied up in the traffic jams you experience in southern Florida. Thanks – Gladys VanderVeer
