Costco Coupon Book – November 17 – December 7, 2008

November 18th, 2008 · 11 Comments

Since I still haven’t gotten my latest Costco Coupon Book, I had to bug my mom for all of the coupon details below.  Thankfully, she got hers!   Across the 90 coupons, there are over $1,500 in savings, with an additional $3,700 in savings at Costco.com.  You can save like nobody’s business!  So, this coupon book is good from November 17 – December 7, giving you almost three weeks to get in all of your saving for the holidays.  There are some great gift coupons.  Also, in a separate post I’ll cover the special 3-day Thanksgiving weekend sale that Costco will be having November 28 – 30, 2008; over $1,200 of in-store coupons in a booklet you can pick up in the store.  So, that’s even more saving that Costco will be bringing you this month.

Food & Beverages: There are a variety of coupons for food or drink items with everything from Red Bull to a Costco Pizza.  Of course, the pizza coupon is probably the best one in the whole book.

  • Costco Take and Bake Pepperoni Pizza – This is probably the best coupon in the entire booklet this time.  Or at least, my favorite one.  This would be great for a Sunday afternoon of football watching, or maybe a little Monday night football break.  We love the Costco pizza; it cooks up fast in just 10 minutes, has a crunchy crust, and a nice amount of toppings.  $3.00 off.
  • Costco Caesar Salad – This is another excellent coupon for a Costco prepared Caesar salad.  And if you combine it with the one for a pizza, you can have a complete meal.  I’ve never written about the Costco salads, but they are something we buy quite often.  Our favorite is probably the Greek salad, but the Caesar salad is nice too.  It’s got the iceberg lettuce, shredded Parmesan cheese, croutons, dressing, and some lemon wedges.  $3.00 off.
  • Pam Cooking Spray – If you’re planning on doing lots of holiday baking or a lot of cooking, you might want to take advantage of this deal.  I always keep Pam in my pantry because a little spritz keeps stuff from sticking to your pans but doesn’t add a bunch of calories; none, actually.  Plus, it avoids making your food like an oil slick.  At Costco you get a 2 pack of 12 ounce cans of the original flavor Pam.  $2.00 off.

Household Items: If you’re looking for some great holiday gifts, there are several sales on things that would make great gifts.  Unfortunately, there are no coupons for the household basics like paper towels or laundry products.

  • Ziploc Gallon Freezer Bags – Personally, I can almost always find a way to use some Ziploc bags, no matter what size.  I really like the gallon size to use for prepping food for dinner, things requiring breading or when I want to oil and season veggies.  Plus, you can use them for things around the house that have nothing to do with your kitchen.  They are great for storing things like cellphone accessories and books (yes, we have so many of these we need a storage solution), as well as paper products like cards or note paper.  I also find them good for when I’m traveling; they’re big enough that you can put a decent sized bottle of liquid (in your checked luggage, of course) like shampoo or conditioner, in your luggage without worrying.  $2.00 off.
  • Scotch Tape – Okay, you’ve probably got a bunch of gift wrap paper to seal up in the coming months, so this could really help you out.  You can save a little money on 6 rolls of tape, with dispensers, for a total of 6,600 total feet of tape.  Now, if you’ve got more wrapping to do than that, I want to get on your gift list! :-)   You get 3 rolls of magic tape and 3 rolls of gift wrap tape.  If you’re like my mom and me, you’re wondering what the difference is between the two.  According to 3M, magic tape is: “appears frosty on the roll, yet is invisible on paper.”  And gift wrap tape: “features a unique satin finish that disappears on most gift wrap papers.”  $2.50 off.
  • Michelin Tires – Tires are back on sale.  So, if you were planning on doing a holiday road trip and your tires are a little sketchy, now might be the time to get them replaced. You can save $80 off a set of 4 new Michelin light truck tires and H-, V- and Z–rated high-performance passenger car tires.  Or, you can get $60 off a set of 4 new Michelin winter tires and S- and T-rated passenger car tires.  If you want to see if tires that work for your vehicle are on sale, go to the Costco.com Tire Center.

Health & Beauty: If you’ve still got medical cafeteria plan money to use by the end of the year, now is the time to use up some of that cash and stock up on medicine cabinet staples.

  • Cough, cold, and Headache Medicines – There is a great coupon for an assortment of items like Theraflu, Excedrin, Gas X, Benefiber, and Triamenic.  Now, these products all cure a variety of ailments or at least get your on the road to wellness and these are things that we should all probably have hanging out in our medicine cabinet.  I have a friend that is just getting over a nasty illness and is a firm believer in the healing powers of Theraflu; she’s a big fan and should probably run out to get her some of this.  $3.50 off.
  • Kirkland Signature Supreme Diapers – I don’t have kids, so I’m not super-informed about the wonders of KS diapers.  However, I’ve heard from several friends and read it on some blogs that these are a nice diaper and are even a good deal.  You should check out the reviews at Costco.com for these diapers; it rates a 5 out of 5 stars. So, I’m guessing getting another $5.00 off the already good price, makes these a spectacular deal.  Depending on the size you need to purchase you get somewhere between 135 and 216 diapers per box.  $5.00 off.
  • Phillips Sonicare Power Toothbrush – This is a great deal on the best electric toothbrush around.  And it would make an excellent gift; nothing says you care like dental hygiene products.  Seriously, this toothbrush will keep your teeth and gums healthy and clean for years.  We had our first one for something like 7 years before we had to replace it because the rechargeable battery wore itself out.  This deal at Costco is particularly nice because you get two handles, four brush heads, a brush head holder, and two travel cases.  This makes it great for a couple since you can both brush at the same time.  It has a ton of nice features, like a 2 minute timer to make sure you’re brushing as long as your dentist really thinks you should.  And, it really is nice when traveling too because it will hold its charge for an entire 2 week vacation.  $25.00 off for a final price of $74.99.

Electronics: As always, there are several coupons for televisions, computers, and navigation systems.

  • Wii Games – This is the one coupon that I was glad to see.  We bought a Wii last year and have a small collection of games but there are a couple of other ones that we’ve been wanting to try.  So, if I’m getting $5 off the price, that makes me a little happier for sure.  The selection of available games varies by store but the good news is that you can buy as many games as you want and get $5 off of each title.  We love our Wii because you can really get into the jumping around of the sports games; it’s a lot more fun than just sitting on the counch wearing your thumb into a blister.  I only wish that Costco had the Wii Fit.  $5.00 off.

Costco.com: You can check out the list of items that are available through Costco.com too.  There are $3,700 in savings that you can get exclusively online for furniture, electronics, a greenhouse, tires, and a fancy play set.  The Whirlpool washer and dryer set, including pedestals for $1,749.99 seems like a great deal (and the online reviews seem to agree) especially when you consider that price does include the shipping and handling.

Get out there and get your deals soon because these coupons are only good November 17 – December 7.

It could just be me, but saying “If you’re looking for some great holiday gifts, there are several sales on things that would make great gifts” and then listing Ziploc bags, Scotch tape, and tires as the singled-out items makes me wonder what you’re planning to give to your family this year! I can just imagine the look on your sister’s face as she unwraps her individually ziploc’d two tires, which are carefully protected from accidental leakage by an extra strip of Scotch tape across the seal. And then hearing your Mom say “I now know what’s in my gift. :-)

Well, there are always great coupons on electronics which is what I would think most would feel are good gifts: the televisions, camera, and navigation systems. However, I didn’t feel it necessary to directly mention any of those. The things I think would make great gifts, the Sonicare and the Wii games, I did point out. Of course, I can see where tires would make a nice gift as well. But the thought of wrapping them in a Ziploc is just silly; they are much too big for that! :-P

Okay, but my comment only applies to the “Household Items” group of your post. You point out there are great gift ideas in the household coupons but then list only tape, tires, and ziplocs as the good coupons. It seems somewhat incongruous.

Yeah, I should have updated that I guess. I was originally planning on writing about the luggage because I thought it was the Kirkland Signature stuff but since it wasn’t, I decided to skip that, as well as a couple of other things.

I’ve determined it is very hard to write about the coupons without actually having my own coupon book to go through.

Our Costco in Toledo had Wii’s AND Wii Fits about two weeks ago. They had about 20 (slots) and about 5 or 6 cards left. You should check to see if yours gets them in stock.

    P.S. I love your blog!

Susie: Do you mean they don’t have the Wii Fit boxes on the floor? You have to get a card and pick up the box after you pay? It never occurred to me that they’d do that with a game!

I haven’t received my coupon book either. I’ve had to pick up the last two coupon books at the warehouse. I recently re-joined – is there a delay in getting new members on the mailing list?

I was just at our Costco tonight, and they had the Wii Fit! However, they DIDN’T have the Leapfrog Didj, which is what I was looking for…(though it’s on the website), nor the Little People Noah’s Ark. I saw it at a different warehouse earlier in the week, and hope I don’t regret not buying it then!

We were just at our Austin Costco and they did have the Didj so definitely some of them have that in the store. No Wii Fit for us though.

They had them out like I have seen cards for the Wii’s. Our were right in front of the registers (not in the game section) and I’ve only seen them the one time. You grab a card and they get the system/game for you after you pay.

I completely admired your message. Have you found of any other good spots for information?
