Stacy, aren't the peaches delicious? I just love them! So much so that I brought some of them with me when we moved. :-)

Kimberly, the peaches are delicious and it's nice that they are in a glass jar and not a can. I use the jars for many things after the peaches are gone. Recycle, recycle, recycle! ;o)

Thanks for all the tips and information. I like your site.

Well, perhaps it was a climate thing that made me change my mind. I'm in the mid-Atlantic, Pennsylvania. Maybe I was reading region specific info.

My home-grown avocado experience has been just the opposite of Justin's. Over the years my trees have produced fruits FAR superior to anything you can get in a store. None of those rocks that never ripen, and none of the stringy, gross black fibers. Backyard Hass, Bacon and Fuerte varieties have all been easy. Expect to lose a few to the squirrels. They have a penchant for biting them about 3 days before they're ready.

I've read that avocado trees like this will never give you great tasting avocados like you are used to getting. However, they do look cool.

I had considered and researched a couple years ago, but the wallet didn't support the aesthetic only tree. I had hoped to save money on avocados.

I'll have to try the peaches!

Regarding the crust on the mahi mahi, putting it under the broiler for the last few minutes of cook time should do the trick.
