Costco Coupon Book April 13 - May 3, 2009

Costco Coupon Book April 13 - May 3, 2009

This edition of the Costco Coupon book seems to be light on savings; only $900 for in store and $2,000 for online items..  But there are 100 coupons this month, including the ones that are only for items on Costco.com.  Though I also receive a whole other book with even more Costco.com savings deals.  I’m not overwhelmingly happy about any of the coupons, but there are some good deals on items that you might just buy once per year or so.

These coupons go into effect Monday, April 13th, and are valid through Sunday, May 3rd; that’s just 3 weeks of time to use these coupons.

Food & Beverages: There are 22 food and beverage coupons.  They have some great deals for things that I would only buy with a coupon, like Izze sparkling juice.  Strangely, they have a couple of candy coupons which they used to only have around Halloween.  And of course, one of the coupons is for $2 off Ritz crackers that I just bought!

  • M & Ms – I know that I shouldn’t support the bargain pricing of M&Ms since they are in no way a healthy snack item.  But who doesn’t love an M&M now and again?  This coupon is for the giant 56 ounce bag of either plain or peanut M&Ms.  At least with the peanut ones you’re getting a little bit of protein, right? :-)   $2.50 off; limit 2.
  • Skippy Peanut Butter – I thought I would point this coupon out mostly to highlight the fact that Costco no longer carries Jif.  So, if you don’t like Skippy you’re out of luck, except for the organic stuff.  The coupon covers either the creamy or chunky varieties.  $2.00 off; limit 2.
  • Kirkland Signature Butter Pound Cake – We’ve never bought these because it’s sold as 3, 1 pound loaves and there’s no way we’re eating that much pound cake before they would go bad.  However, we have bought the Cinnamon Butter Pound Coffeecake (the round one) and that is beyond delicious.  I’m sure this is yummy and if you have a need for this much pound cake, it’s probably a great deal.  I wonder if you could freeze this with good results?  $2.00 off; limit 1.
  • Other Coupons:
    • PowerBar Variety Pack, 24 count Performance or Performance Minis: Buy one, get one free; limit 2.
    • M&M/Mars Variety Pack, 30 count: $4.50 off; limit 2.
    • Fruit by the Foot Variety Pack, 42 count: $2.50 off; limit 2.
    • Pam 100% Natural Cooking Spray, 2, 12 ounce cans: $2.50 off.
    • Hellmann’s or Best Foods Mayonnaise, 64 ounce jars: $2.00 off; limit 1.
    • Propel Fitness Water Variety Pack, 24, 16.9 ounce bottles: $3.00 off; limit 2.
    • Izze Sparkling Juice Variety Pack, 12, 12 ounce bottles: $3.00 off; limit 1.
    • Nabisco Ritz Crackers, 48 ounce box: $2.00 off.
    • Crystal Light On the Go Variety Pack, 66 count: $4.00 off.
    • Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, 15, 7.25 ounce boxes: $2.00 off; limit 4.
    • Glaceau VitaminWater Variety Pack, 20, 20 ounce or 24, 12 ounce bottles: $4.00 off; limit 5.
    • Glaceau SmartWater, 12, 1 liter bottles: $2.50 off; limit 5.
    • Hebrew National Kosher Beef Franks, 4, 12 ounce packages: $3.00 off; limit 4.
    • Kraft American Singles, 4 pounds/96 count: $3.25 off; limit 1.
    • Daylee or TastyWok Orange Chicken, 66 ounces: $3.00 off.
    • Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers Variety Pack, 2 chicken margarita & 2 chicken marinara: $3.00 off.
    • Weight Watchers Cookies & Cream Ice Cream Bars, 18, 4 ounce bars: $2.40 off.
    • Valley Fine Foods Pasta Prime Chicken & Mozzarella Ravioli: $2.50 off; limit 1.
    • Kirkland Signature Chicken Alfredo with Penne Pasta: $3.00 off.

Household Items: There are 20 coupons for various household items; cleaning supplies to kitchen items.  There are a number of things that wold make great wedding gifts, since it is that time of year.  There’s a great coupon for digital prints too.

  • Global X 8-Piece Cast Aluminum Solar Light Set – These are such a great idea because you don’t have to deal with the wiring and transformer and all that stuff.  You just stick them in the ground and they light up at night.  Of course, the last time we bought a set of these (3 years ago maybe) the light output was less than impressive, to say the least.  It looked like a pen light with someone’s hand over it; that dim.   They’ve probably improved them since then though.  However, at least if you buy them at Costco you can always take them back if they are not satisfactory.  $15.00 off; limit 1.
  • Duracell Coppertop Alkaline AA Batteries – Everyone with a couple of remotes, clocks and things like that should definitely consider this coupon.  We go through a number of batteries for various small electronic items and remotes around the house and saving $2 off a bunch of batteries makes me very happy.  Though, I kind of wish that this also covered the big D size batteries too because we could use some of those for flashlights and camping lanterns.  $2.00 off; limit 1.
  • KitchenAid Stand Mixer Professional HD Series – This is a great deal!  Any time Costco has a coupon on these it is an amazing deal since they already have the lowest prices on these mixers.  And the KitchenAid Stand Mixer is awesome.  You can make everything with this, including sausage and pasta (with attachments).  I’m a big fan.  This weekend I noticed that these were $279.99 in our location, so the extra $40.00 off makes this an unbelievable buy.  You can also get this on Costco.com for $259.99 (with the coupon).  $40.00 off; limit 3.
  • Other Coupons:
    • Sealy Waterbrook Queen Mattress Set: $100.00 off; limit 3; $499.99 final price.
    • Reynolds Wrap Aluminum Foil, Standard or Heavy Duty, 2 pack: $4.00 off; limit 3.

I am so glad I found this website!
We have not received our coupons yet. Planning on going to Costco this Weds. (it’s an hours drive from where we live) so the coupons better be here before then! :)
We shop at Costco and Sams. We love Costco the best, but go to Sams for items Costco does not have in stock. The Costco coupons is a big plus too! Love them!
We have tried the Kirkland Pound Cakes. They are delicous! :) If you are afraid that the cakes will go bad before they can be eaten, freeze them. I have bought these cakes for Christmas presents. Just wrap them individually and you have gifts!

Thank you for all the Costco info!

This book looks pretty good – lately I’ve been disappointed in the coupon books. I purchased an item on April 5th which is now in the coupon book – does anyone know if Costco will reimburse the difference if an item goes on sale within a certain time period after the purchase? Thanks!

Btw Costco provided the top two Easter highlights: an amazing eye round roast and for cocktail hour, garlic and herb pita bites chips – very yummy. Also folding chairs for the spillover crowd.

  4. 4 Jenn // 2009.04.13 at 10:42 pm

As long as its a Costco coupon and not a manufacturer coupon, Costco will reimburse the difference.

  5. 5 Teresa // 2009.04.14 at 7:01 pm

I’m pretty sure the pound cakes will freeze just fine. I’ve frozen slices of Costco pecan pie and the chocolate layer cake with no problems. It works best if you can manage to cut and freeze the individual slices as soon as you can so that you’re freezing relatively fresh product. Wrap the individual slices in foil, freeze til solid, then you can stack them in plastic freezer bags to save space. Take them out and thaw on the counter – a great treat!

Do you have the Cascade Advance Powder or Advanced Power Gel: $2.00 off coupon. I did not get that one in the book. I checked at the store today and they had it for the original price of 9.59.

  7. 7 jill // 2009.04.14 at 10:25 pm

my costco didn’t have the cascade powder coupon in the book either? i bought it anyway just to see if it rang up as $2.00 off and it didn’t. full price, 9.59. i’ll most likely return it on my next trip and wait until i get a coupon for it.

  8. 8 Kimberly // 2009.04.15 at 7:42 am

Dang…I am SO sorry about the Cascade. It was a mistake that it was on the list. I copied from the last post about the coupon book for formatting reasons & I correctly got rid of all of the old coupons but this one for some odd reason. I feel really bad & won’t be cutting and pasting again! Sorry. :-(

  9. 9 Cynthia // 2009.04.15 at 10:35 am

I did the same thing as Jill and returned it immediately and even told the lady about this web site. She said may be it was just in your store. ;-) No worries…

  10. 10 Kimberly // 2009.04.15 at 10:47 am

Well, luckily Costco is so cool about taking things back. However, I still feel like a bit of an idiot because if I had just added up all the coupon totals I would have seen the extra one. Thanks for being so understanding though!

  11. 11 jill // 2009.04.15 at 4:11 pm

no biggie kimberly…i just appreciate all the info you work so hard to pass along!

    thanks!

    Wow
Great to see Weight Watchers Ice Cream with a coupon! This was a great value!

  13. 13 Joan Turner // 2009.04.16 at 11:55 pm

In response to Matsugirl -The last time I was at Costco I mentioned that I had forgotten one of my coupons and the cashier told me I didn’t need to actually have a coupon. The discount was automatically taken. Anyway, I did get the discounted price without presenting a coupon.

  14. 14 Mal // 2009.04.17 at 8:08 pm

How do I get a coupon book, I have been a member for 4 years and i have never gotten one?

  15. 15 matsugirl // 2009.04.17 at 11:54 pm

We shopped at Costco on Weds. Had the coupons all ready to go. :)

I bought the Kirkland Signature Chicken Alfredo with Penne Pasta with the coupon to try it out. We had it for supper yesterday. I will not be buying this alfredo again. It was too greasy. Way too much butter in the sauce. If the alfredo wasn’t swimming in butter, it would be really good.

  16. 16 Kimberly // 2009.04.18 at 7:50 am

Mal, You can always go directly to the Customer Service desk in your local Costco to get a copy of the latest coupon book. The trouble you could be having is that there’s a box on the membership form that gives Costco the okay to send you mail, otherwise, you won’t get your coupons. You should be able to easily clear this up by a quick visit to the Customer Service desk.

  17. 17 Kimberly // 2009.04.18 at 7:53 am

I’ve always wondered about the Chicken Alfredo. Thanks for the heads up that it may not live up to expectations. I’ve had hit or miss results with the prepared pasta dishes. We liked one of them that they promptly stopped selling and then the one we didn’t like, a penne and tomato sauce situation, I think they still sell.

Glad you didn’t have to pay full price for the greasy, over buttered Alfredo, Matsugirl!

  18. 18 Taunya // 2009.04.19 at 9:31 pm

Hi, I love the Smartwater which is currently on sale for $2.50 off per case with a limit of 5. Can you use more then one coupon per household or do they track this so that I am stuck just purchasing the 5? Thanks

  19. 19 Kim // 2009.04.20 at 3:01 pm

Regarding the Butter Poundcake. Take them home and put them individual gallon size zip lock bags and store them in the freezer. They only tak 30 minutes or so to defrost and taste fresh baked.

  20. 20 John // 2009.04.21 at 10:15 am

I understand that you are selling the new Nature of Things DVD called Visions of the Future with David Suzuki – I can’t find it on your site? How much is it? is there an Earth Day promotion for this DVD?

  21. 21 Kimberly // 2009.04.21 at 11:54 am

John, I’m not actually affiliated with Costco in any way; just a normal shopper there. I tried to do a quick search on the Costco.com site for the DVD that you wanted to know about but I couldn’t find anything. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.

  22. 22 Kimberly // 2009.04.21 at 11:59 am

Taunya, they keep pretty good track of this actually. So, I think you are stuck with just purchasing 5 of them. However, I have heard some people say that they’ve been able to purchase more than the limit by buying an item on different trips.

Love your website! We don’t get our coupons because they go to the company. This is a wonderful way to right up my shopping list. Thank You for doing this!

I was wondering if someone can scan one coupon and post it so it can be printed out for use at Costco. I thought that someone used to scan the coupons for use but don’t see any on this site.

Costco will only allow you to use original coupons; copies will not be valid. I think they do this so that you can only use the coupons that you are sent. Also, one of the people at our Costco told me this weekend that the manufacturers are cracking down and requiring Costco to send them all of the original coupons that have been redeemed. He said it had to do with people purchasing more than the item limit for a given coupon.

I had the Chicken Alfredo Penne last night, and thought it was delici0us. Just use a fork to transfer the pasta on to plates and any leftover butter or sauce will be at the bottom of the cooking tray. Then I steamed some broccoli and served it in the leftover butter and sauce from the serving tray. It worked out perfectly for me.

i have a question. i get costco coupons in the mail, but i usually receive mine before the “use” date. i was wondering if costco will let you use coupons before the “use” date? for example, can i use a coupon april 9th if the coupon date is april 13th-may3rd?

Costco will not honor coupons before they are valid, at least at the one I shop at regularly. I’ve seen people try this but Costco never allows it.

I haven’t received a coupon bok in the mail for almost a year now. Does every memeber get coupon books?

Errol – You should have the Customer Service/Membership desk update your “PMO”. its a subscreen in your membership file that should fix the problem so that you get the coupon books. Make sure they have your current address as well. Also, if you are not the primary member on the membership, or some at your address is not, you will not receive the coupon books in your mail. You can also try asking them for a copy of the current coupon book.
