Costco Coupon Book - August 17 - September 6, 2009

Costco Coupon Book - August 17 - September 6, 2009

This is the best bunch of coupons from Costco in a couple months, in my opinion.  There are quite a few things in here that I have been wanting or needing.  Unfortunately, there isn’t a good toothbrush coupon since I missed out on the one in the July book.  There are 100 coupons for more than $1,700.00 in savings in the warehouse, with $5,000.00 in savings for stuff on Costco.com.  There are some good deals for computers and things that you might need for back to school time.

Food & Beverages: There are 28 food and beverage coupons.  Lots of juice and drink coupons this time but more of a variety than I’ve seen recently.  Of course, this is also 12 more food and beverage coupons than were available in the last coupon book.  There are probably quite a few of these items that I have blogged about, like the Sun Chips and the cereal.

  • PowerBar Variety Pack, Performance Variety or Harvest Variety, 24 count: Buy One, Get One Free; no limit.  –  If you’re into PowerBars, this is an excellent buy.  Dave has gotten the PowerBars at other places and they can be so pricey, it’s ridiculous.  However, they are packed with lots of protein and nutrients.  They are great to take on a hike or camping trip because they will not smush or break, unlike a granola bar, but will provide you with some energy and keep your tummy from grumbling.
  • Sun Chips Variety Mix, 24 bags: $2.00 off; no limit.  – I wrote about these a year ago, they had the same coupon going then and the cost was just $6.39 for the 24 bags; that’s right around $0.26 per bag.
  • Izze Sparkling Juice Variety Pack, 12, 12 ounce bottles: $3.00 off; limit 1.  –  I wrote about these last year, as  well.  They were $4.00 off then so it was a good deal.  While they are tasty, I feel like they are overpriced at almost $1.00 a bottle, but the coupon makes it a little more reasonable.  The flavors in the case are clementine, pomegranate, and blackberry.
  • Haagen-Dazs Vanilla Almond Ice Cream Bars, 15, 3 ounce bars: $3.00 off; limit 2.  –  Okay, these may be the best tasting ice cream treat you could ever put in your freezer.  Seriously.  I love these ice cream bars and I’m not even all that into ice cream.  Read my previous post for the full love story.  Sadly, there is a two item limit on these.
  • Odwalla Variety Pack, 10, 11 ounce bottles OR Naked Juice Variety Pack, 10, 10 ounce bottles: $3.50 off; limit 1.  Funny enough, Dave and I were just looking at the Naked Juice pack this weekend but since we’ve never had it I didn’t want to gamble the $11-ish on it and find out we hated it.  Although, Dave’s had their orange juice before and really liked it.  I’m thinking with the coupon, we’ll probably give these a shot.  It’ll be a nice change from the V-8 Fusion, in any case.
  • Kirkland Signature Rotisserie Chicken Salad: $2.00 off; limit 1.  –  I’m not usually a big chicken salad fan, but this is darn tasty on either a Ritz cracker or a sandwich.  For more, read my previous post about it.
  • Monster Energy Drink Regular or Lo-Carb, 24 pack: $6.00 off ; OR 12 pack: $3.00 off; limit 4.
  • Glaceau VitaminWater Variety Packs, 20, 20 ounce bottles OR 24, 12 ounce bottles: $4.00 off; limit 5.
  • Rice Works Sea Salt Crisps, 20 ounce bag: $2.00 off; no limit.
  • Kellogg’s Rice Krispie Treats, 54 count: $3.00 off; limit 2.
  • Sensible Portions Veggie Straws, 20 ounce bag OR Baked Veggie Crisps, 16 ounce bag: $2.00 off; no limit.
  • Kellogg’s Frosted Mini-Wheats, 70 ounce box: $2.50 off; limit 2.
  • Ragu Pasta Sauce, 3, 45 ounce bottles: $2.00 off; limit 2.
  • Jif Peanut Butter, Extra Crunch or Creamy, 2, 48 ounce bottles: $2.00 off; limit 2.
  • Hidden Valley Ranch Original, Homestyle OR Light, 2, 40 ounce OR 2, 36 ounce bottles: $2.00 off; limit 5.
  • Cinnamon Toast Crunch with Fiber, 45.75 ounce box: $2.00 off; limit 2.
  • Arrowhead, Ozarka, Zephyrillis, Poland Spring, Deer Park, OR Ice Mountain Sport Top, 24, 23.7 ounce bottles: $1.50 off; limit 3.
  • Fuzze Variety Packs, 15, 18.5 ounce bottles: $3.50 off; limit 5.
  • Snapple Variety Packs, 24, 20 ounce bottles: $4.00 off; limit 3.
  • Lipton Regular OR Diet Green Tea, 28, 16.9 ounce OR 24, 16.9 ounce bottles: $3.00 off; limit 3.
  • Glaceau Smartwater, 12, 1 liter bottle: $2.50 off; limit 5.
  • Dannon Danimals Drinkable Yogurt, 24 pack: $3.00 off; limit 5.
  • Smart Balance Buttery Spread, 2, 2 pound tubs: $2.00 off; no limit.
  • Pasta Prima Spinach & Mozzarella Ravioli, 3.5 pound bag: $2.50 off; limit 10.

  • Simmons OR Tyson All Natural Breaded Chicken Breast Tenderloins, 5 pounds: $3.00 off; limit 2.
  • Harry’s Organic Creamy Tomato Basil Soup, 2, 30 ounce: $2.00 off; limit 4.
  • Austin Blues Pulled Pork, 30 ounces: $2.00 off; limit 2.

Household Items: There are just 10 coupons for various household items.  It seems mostly to be things that you can stock up on like paper products and cleaning supplies.  They have a good coupon for Duracell batteries too that is great if you have remotes.

  • OxiClean, 15 pounds: $4.00 off; limit 1.  –  Here’s something that I’ve been waiting to have a coupon for the last 3 coupon books.  It’s priced around $17.00 normally, and I didn’t necessarily want to pay that much if I could avoid it.  I knew that Costco offered coupons for it sometimes, so I was holding out.  I had decided that if it wasn’t in this coupon book, then I was just going to buy it.  Crazy good luck for me, huh?  If you haven’t tried this you might want to get a little thing of it first (like I did).  But it is rather amazing how much whiter it can get your laundry items like sheets and socks.  Plus, it works for cleaning grout and carpet too.
  • Charmin: $2.00 off; limit 1.
  • Bounty Roll Towels: $2.00 off; limit 1.
  • Cascade ActionPacs, 90 count: $3.00 off OR Cascade Complete, 85 count: $3.50 off.  Limit 1.

  • Windex Advanced, 32 ounce trigger and 5.1 liter refill: $2.25 off; limit 5.
  • Scrubbing Bubbles, 4, 25 ounce cans OR Lemon Pledge Furniture Polish, 3, 17.7 ounce cans: $3.00 off; limit 5.
  • Dixie Ultra Paper Plates, 10 1/16″, 170 count OR 6 7/8″, 300 count: $2.25 off; limit 2.
  • Duracell Coppertop AA, 36 pack OR AAA Batteries, 24 pack: $3.00 off; no limit.
  • Ricardo Rainier 21″ Superlight Expandable Trolley: $15.00 off for a final price of $39.99; no limit.

Health & Beauty: There are 20 coupons that fit into the health and beauty category this time.  Most of this is the usual suspects, like the assortment of vitamins and supplements, there’s also a coupon for contact lenses.

  • Philips Sonicare Essence Dual Handle Rechargeable Toothbrush with Quadpacer, includes 2 handles, 4 brush heads, 2 travel cases, charger base: $20.00 off; limit 3. Available on Costco.com.  –  These are really nice and they’ve come way down in price from when we bought our first one about a decade ago. This is a really nice set because it comes with 2 handles, 4 brushes, and 2 travel cases.  It’s amazing how long they’ll hold a charge; long enough for a 2 week vacation usually.  Makes a great gift too!

Costco.com: As usual, there are 20 coupons for items that are only available through Costco.com in this month’s coupon book.  I’m surprised at how much furniture they seem to have coupons for this month.  And as usual, they have the Whirlpool washer and dryer and the big spa (why are these always having coupons?) coupons too.

  • SunSetter Motorized Retractable Awnings, remote and cover included, multiple sizes and colors: $500.00 off any size.  –  My mom has been thinking about getting one of these awnings because she’s got a huge west-side sun issue that causes her bedroom to feel like it’s practically on fire this time of year.  They say these can make your deck or patio 20 degrees cooler, which could be a huge cost savings for your cooling costs too.  With this great discount, this might just be the time for her to invest in one.

The print results of the HP Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless are amazing, but I had a few problems with the wireless connection. But in the end it worked fine.

You get a coupon book every month, maybe you joined right after they sent out the coupons for that month. So you should be getting the following months coupons any time now.

But anyways you don’t have to wait for them to come in the mail, all you have to do is go up to the Customer Service area(where you buy your membership) and ask for some more coupons. So even though you only got 1 coupon in the mail for something you can keep on getting as many coupons for that product as you want and just stock up on that particular item while it’s on sale.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHO THE MANUFACTURER OF THE SOHO SOFA THAT WAS IN THE COSTCO WAREHOUSE IS. I BOUGHT A FLOOR MODEL AND DID NOT RECEIVE ANY INFORMATION ON IT.

Am I supposed to be getting coupon books in the mail? I’ve had my membership for a month and I never received anything. Wasn’t sure if I needed to do something?

Love the blog! I am an Austinite too!

Looks like nobody mentioned the veggie sticks? a bag 1/4 the size of the costco bag sells for $2.99-3.99 at Whole foods. Here, with the $2.00 off coupon you can get a bag 4x the size of regular bag for $2.99!!and there is no limit! its a huge steal. I bought 4 bags..we go through these like crazy on road trips, and they are much more figure freindly than regular boring potato chips (130 cals for 38 sticks vs 150 cals for 10 chips?)

too bad the sale is over now..

[…] too.  The first item, I posted about yesterday, and you probably figured out anyway.  But the coupon book expiring might have slipped your mind.  If so, you’ve still got plenty of time (well, today […]

The Snapple coupon is that same $4 off as previous times, but the base price has gone up 50 cents. At least at the one in San Leandro, CA

I think the Toshiba 19″ LCD/DVD is only available at the actual stores, not online. So, you’ll have to go to a store to get that deal.

  10. 10 diamondfire // 2009.09.01 at 9:51 pm

I do not see the Toshiba 19 inch LCD/DVD on their website… are they still offering that?

Monique, I don’t know how Costco Australia works. However, here in the US, you can obtain the coupons from the mail, or ask for the coupons at the Costco Service Desk.

    Thanks for posting. Great website.

Hi, I am new to costco Australia, and was wondering how you get your hands on the coupons…Thanks

Thanks for all of your comments! This was a great piece of sounding board information, particularly on the LCD price points.

I am a young DC-area hipster urbanite type without a lot of apartment space, so I don’t have a need for many of these products. But the Powerbar buy and the Frosted Miniwheats (at about $1.25/lb you can’t beat this price) are definitely on my hit list this week. Thanks for the coupon book analysis!

The Naples furniture is no longer available. I actually ordered the Naples collection which included a sofa and two accent chairs. 4 weeks after I placed my order I received an email stating that my order was cancelled due to the item not being available from their vendor. I was very upset because I waited a month to find out that I was not getting my furniture. I received a $25 cash card for the inconvenience. I went to my local Costco and purchase the Soho sofa and 2 Soho recliners for half the price I was going to spend on the Naples collection. I must admit that the Naples collection looks really extravagant but the Soho collection worked well. I received a swatch sample from the Naples vendor to compare the leather and they felt exactly the same. Things happen for a reason and I very happy with my purchase.

That’s a shame that you had to wait a month to find out you couldn’t get it. I’ve had that happen at another place that I ordered from and it really made me angry…they didn’t even offer a gift card or discount or anything. So, at least Costco was nice enough to offer that. And in the end, it sounds like you still got a great deal with the Soho furniture.

This is a VERY GOOD coupon representing almost 30% off the regular price of 8.99 for a great frozen pasta product:

Pasta Prima Spinach & Mozzarella Ravioli, 3.5 pound bag: $2.50 off; limit 10.

We get several meals from one bag. Simply boil until tender then add extra virgin olive oil to taste and sprinkle on the cheese & italian seasoning topping (two packets are included with the ravioli). Very tasty!

Only some Costcos don’t require coupons. I noticed Costco (ones in the Bay Area) that is super busy doesn’t require coupons; I guess it is a way to save checkout time. Meanwhile, the less busy Costco (ones in Sacramento,CA) does require coupons. Most of the time, the cashier just take the coupons and throw them directly into the trashcan.

Has anyone tried the Kirkland body soap? Just wondering if it feels like Dove and what does it smell like?

  19. 20 island_girl // 2009.08.14 at 10:45 am

Just curious – in the states, is the coupon actually required at Costco? Here in Puerto Rico, they just give you the price – like a sale. So even though there are limits per transaction – you can always go back and buy more.

This is the model number i see at Costco website – 55U. Sharp 52″ 1080p for $1200 after $200 off. Not so interested. This is the same price ($1200) and same set someone would have picked up last thanksgiving. Sharp has stopped production of this set and moved on to 85U and 77U. on a general note Costco TV selections are outdated for the price points. But i have used Sharp Aquos line and it has solid performance and AQUOS ADVANTAGE is good to have.

  21. 22 jay // 2009.08.13 at 11:24 am

I bought Scrubbing Bubbles from Walmart for $4.5 a can. Costco has 4 pack for $12 something. Coupon make it the lowest price one would possible try to get it. If you like this product, this is the best way to get this. its the feeling of clean tub when kids sit in there for an hour for bath play.
