‘My Top 5 Costco Items’ Contest Winners

August 28th, 2009 · 10 Comments

This morning we selected the winners for the ‘My Top 5 Costco Items’ contest, the first AddictedToCostco.com contest ever. Again, I just want to say thanks to everyone that was willing to share their top 5 Costco items with the readers of my blog, and the contest sponsor.

If you’re curious, the process used to select the winners was to start a Python shell, import the random module, seed using the current time, then retrieve random integers between 0 and the highest numbered eligible comment plus 1.  Each random number was matched to a comment number and if that contestant had followed all of the rules, they won a Costco Cash Card.  Winners were picked from 3rd to 1st place order.   Unfortunately, we had to draw a total of six numbers since three of the selected entrants did not have complete responses. In these cases, new winners were selected, resulting in the final contest winners.

Without further ado, the contest winners are:

Congratulations to the three winners and thanks to everyone that added their top 5!

I’m so glad you did this contest. I didn’t participate, but I’m benefiting from reading the top fives from all the submissions! In fact, I have made a list of items that I saw appear over and over, and will be adding at least a few to my shopping cart during our trip this weekend! Thanks for the “unofficial online reviews” :)

I’m on my way to Costco this morning to purchase the slimline flocked hangers…50 for $20. What a deal that is! I have a few hangers of this type and love them, so when my sister purchased these last week at Costco and said, “they’re the best”, I’m not hesitating in my purchase of them.

Wow, I just discovered this website! My husband and I have been addicted to Costco since it opened in our town in 1993. It’s our Sunday morning ritual to buy a blended coffee drink and then head for Costco. My house (and refrigerator) are full of Costco items, both Kirkland and others. I’ve been shopping for a chest freezer and from what I read here today I think I’ll buy it at Costco. Every weekend we buy our regular things, sample new foods, and buy something new. Yay, long live Costco!

I thought all numbers were going to be put into a big fishbowl, but Costco didn’t have the right size fishbowl in stock. LOL!!!

Dave, I agree. I want to try the Kirkland detergent since so many people like it.

Thanks! I’m so excited to be a winner! I told all my Facebook friends about it so hopefully you’ll get even more support of this blog. I love it! THANKS AGAIN!

Congratulations to Erin, Adam, and Saige!

It was very interesting to read everyone’s top 5 items. I’ve got to say I’m surprised at how often Kirkland Signature came up in those lists. Not because I think it’s bad stuff, no, definitely not that, but only because there are so many other things to buy at Costco that the odds seemed stacked against it.
