Time for the Holidays at Costco

Christmas or Halloween...take your pick

Christmas or Halloween...take your pick

After a long, hot summer here in Austin it is finally time for the holidays apparently.  Or, at least that’s the feeling at Costco.  But the question really is, which holiday is coming up?  Is it Halloween?  Or, is it Christmas?  Well, because Costco always goes that extra mile for their customers, they’ve got both covered.  You can get your Halloween costume and Christmas lights in the same trip.  Or, pick up some Christmas ornaments along with your bags of Halloween candy.

We took these photos this weekend when we were at Costco because they’ve been simultaneously celebrating Halloween and Christmas for a couple of weeks now.

You got Halloween all over my Christmas!

You got Halloween all over my Christmas!

We figured it wasn’t going away, and was funny enough that it should be a post that I share with everyone.  Is it just me or do stores put out holiday stuff earlier and earlier each year?  I mean, it was still August when they started having these items again.  How much prep time do you need for Halloween really?

I’m hoping, and guessing, that this is just Costco trying to sell out of some stock that was leftover from last year’s holiday season.  It just struck me as so funny to see Santa Claus on one aisle and a big hanging bat on the other.

I Believe there is a dollar off coupon for the pie right now.

Pumpkin pie is already here in the North Austin Costco as of at least yesterday! And everyone we saw checking out in line had at least one, us included. :-)

Unfortunately Costco has to compete with other retailers who start Christmas in July. Who needs 2 months to pick out a costume? or 4 Months to find just the right string of lights? Then again, you could think if it as a nice indicator that Fall is here and we are finally leaving the hot days of Summer. Oh, and pumpkin pie is coming!!! Chai tea and egg nogg……Ok, forget what I just said…..I’ll just think of the Holiday aisle as a good sweet memory trigger 😉

I put off buying Halloween candy as much as possible. We would just eat it (chocolate goes bad you know :) ) and have to go buy more!
