The spray painting them with either white or reflective paint is a really good idea. I think we've decided to move them a little closer to the outside lights so that they'll have a little light shining on them. I completely didn't think of how the black against night sky might not show up so well. They are cute though.

Depending on the background behind them, but I wonder if they would stand out more if they were spray painted white?

Or what about peeking out around the house, like the porch or next to the steps to the house. I didn't think of it, but the black would blend into the night with only the eyes showing.

What about some reflective spray paint?

@Robtin, At our Costco they still had the giant big black bat with the lit up eyes as of last weekend, but not much else this year. No big inflatable pumpkin carriage like last year. No scary music playing displays. I'm guessing that, with the economy on the rocks, someone figured people wouldn't be spending quite as wildly this year.

On another topic, I've set up a set of these skeleton lights and I've got to say that I'm not that impressed. The big problem is that they really blend into the background if there's any variation in pattern or texture behind them. Well, everything blends except the big ol' black metal head. Unfortunately, it looks more like a large beetle or other insect crawling in our lawn than part of a skeleton decoration. Even in full daylight I'm not sure I can tell what they're meant to be from more than 5 feet away. We're going to have to move ours somewhere where they're against a wall, or in a spotlight, or something.

I was at Orlando Costco tonight and I noticed the kid's costumes but didn't notice any Halloween decorations. I remember them having giant spider and think it was a few weeks ago. Maybe they've sold out.

Many of the Christmas decorations are already out. You can't miss the polar bear made of crystals and lights.

Can you contact me on the email I supplied to post this comment, or if you can't see that (don't know) can you post a follow up comment telling me that and I'll post my email addy.

Tried to find a "contact me" on your blogs and didn't see one.

Thanks.
