Great idea for using the Foodsaver. I absolutely love mine. I use it when buying meat in bulk. I can't wait to try the canner jar attachment!

I also buy the frozen cooked tail off shrimp. I use it in salads and sometimes just fill half an avocado with the shrimp! It's also great to toss into pasta dishes...like linguine with alfredo saue.

Hey! Did you check out ~M's post above??? Salad in a jar???
WOW - I am so thrilled to find a wonderful use for my FoodSaver! I have the canner jar attachment and I've always wanted to take advantage of the big bags of Romaine! Thanks!!! What an AWESOME Tip! I actually have some in the garden right now and we are about to get a hard freeze - wish me luck!

My guess is that the coupons are valid from November 12 through the end of November, based on past coupon book trends. Which probably means people will start receiving them next week.

I was just at Costco and was told the next round of coupons comes out November 12th. She didn't know if that's when the savings started or if that's when we should expect them in the mail, though.

I decided to hold off on buying the FoodSaver at the moment. My sister has one that she never uses anymore because she thinks its too much hassle...maybe I should borrow hers for a while to see if I will actually use it.

Guess it's too late to use the coupon but I wanted to comment on the FoodSaver. If you are the kind of person who likes to plan ahead, my guess is that you would use it a lot. Otherwise, I'm not so sure. The bags are expensive. I only use them occasionally. That's why I LOVE using the jars. The jars are cheap as are the lids. You can wash and reuse an unlimited amount of times.

The bags are mostly for freezing--at least at my house. I use the jars for fresh food i.e. the salad (lettuce) in a jar that commenter #1 mentioned. Works great for fresh fruit, vegetables, sauces, etc. So if you buy mostly processed food, this may not be for you. But if you buy lots of fresh stuff and have a hard time eating it before it goes bad (translated--not a big family) then I think you will love it. If you like to make salad dressing, marinade, stir-fry sauce, etc. it helps keep stuff fresh longer (using the jars again) since you won't have the preservatives the store-bought stuff has.

I've heard it said that you need to leave it on your counter or you won't use it. Pretty much agree with that too. Hope this helps.

If you eat salad, you could use the FoodSaver to save your salad like this: http://www.salad-in-a-jar.com/skinny-secrets/salad-in-a-jar
