I agree, KD, that's how I feel too. I trust Costco to not be selling something just because it's cheap, but because it is a good quality product. I think that's how they can afford to have their awesome return policy, too.

I agree that it is "funny when these people say that selling something at Costco will tarnish their image or reputation."

For me ~ and my mother, from whom I learned all things Costco ~ it's only worthy of being purchased IF it's sold at Costco. If it's sold at Costco, I know they stand behind the product. I know it means something that Costco carries a product. I don't put much effort into researching the item if Costco carries the item. Other retailers, on the other hand.... you never know what you're going to get so I do more research.

Farouk suing Costco is a joke. I wouldn't be surprised if Farouk dumped a bunch of goods KNOWING that they would be diverted into Costco. They are suing just so they can tell the salons that they are 'going after' Costco. Why didn't they investigate when someone placed an unusually huge (Costco) order? The answer is because they like the extra sales. Farouk should be HONORED that Costco is selling their goods. These companies like Farouk turn a blind eye to diverted goods until the salons complain then they have to make like they are going to do something about it. It's all a game.

Sometimes Costco buys "grey market" stuff - things that sell in other countries for lower prices. They buy them from another country and are able to sell them for a lower price than is typical in the USA. Sometimes you will see grey market computer stuff or bottled Coca-cola, etc. It makes the manufacturers mad because they want to sell stuff for the price they set at retail in the US.

In that case, I wonder if they're suing Amazon and eBay too? I bought mine at Costco for $60, and it seems to be authentic according to
http://reviews.ebay.com/Determining-if-your-Chi-Flat-Iron-is-FAKE_W0QQugidZ10000000011204116
But take it for what it's worth...all I worry about is how well it works and if it's safe (electrically). It works sooo much better than a $20 one I had. Now I understand all the craze for CHI. Get one while you can. By the way, you can do a few different styles such as flip, curl, wave...not just straighten hair.

That's so funny.. you look on the web and see ads all over the place discounting this product I never heard of, including this very web site via google ads! I see the ads plus I see a bunch placed by ambulance chasers for lawsuits. Ya gotta smile about that!

I hadn't really noticed all the ads for cheap Chis on this post until Gehrig pointed it out . That's pretty funny though. Maybe Farouk should use this as a way of tracking down all of the people that they need to sue for selling their irons so cheaply.

I'm also not a lawyer and only watch them on tv. However, I'm guessing that the Farouk folks would say that Costco wasn't an authorized dealer and that purchasing one there voided their warranty. And then the person with burned hair would have to sue Costco directly. And the jury would probably give them $150 million for having singed their hair...it's hard to tell with civil suits like that.
