We bought the Gavin sectional last fall, 2011, from Costco. It was nice at first but in a few weeks the right arm extension broke like balsawood at the corner from my six year old sitting on it, similar to another poster's couch breaking by leaning over. On the other section the back support also broke from my three-year old (30 lb little guy) standing on it. The chaise part of the couch is my husband's favorite spot to nap. The cushions on the seat are divided into three sections. It just so happens that one of the divisions between the cushions falls right under his bum and now those two cushions are flattened where they should meet. . It would have been a better design to make the chaise cushions in two sections, not three, as the cushion that supports the feet is very long and would have worked well under the bum instead.

The back pillows are becoming a little saggy and I can see where the stitching holding them on to the frame is popping.

Overall I am not really pleased. This couch replaced a twenty-year old hand-me-down from my parents and it does not even come close to being durable. The old couch was not damaged structurally, it was worn through and threadbare. The Emerald Home "Gavin" sectional broke in two places on the frame from regular everyday use within weeks of bringing it home. The chaise needs a cushion redesign. If I can find a way to get this back to Costco I want to get my money back.

We just purchased the Simon Li Alexandra sofa and loveseat. I thought I saw the chair at the Costco on Telegraph and Square Lake in MI. Not sure where you are located.

I bought the Simon li Alexander sofa last week. Put it in my minivan and dragged it into my house. It's very heavy, we could not lift it off the ground with two people. It's in my living room now. Very good quality leather and very cushiony seating and back. We like it a lot. However it may be high if you are short and for kids. Also looks very nice, modern and contemporary with staying that will last. I think the sofa is on par if not better than the leather natuzzi it's replacing and with the ones we saw at Macy's. Now I have to track down the matching chair to complete the set.

I need quick reply. Saw Simon Li sofas today at Costco after shopping at Bassett sale. Does anyone know how the sofas compare? Bassett is, of course, 2x more expensive.

I wanted to give a review of the Julian almost two years later. I am kind of distressed that the back cushions started to sag and deflate very soon after purchase. They are attached so they can't be fluffed up. If you want to sit comfortably, you have to stack about 4 smaller cushions behind you. :( I don't know if it's just mine, but I'd be interested in hearing how others' have held up.

Just wondering how those of you who purchased Simon Li’s Alexandra sofa and love seat are feeling about it one year later?
