There is so much "unknown" about Chinese import cabinets -- reading about it in depth before deciding made me worry. We have little way of tracking where the wood is harvested, if sustainable, or as I read, there is no concern given to regrowth or environmental impact. There is a loudly rumbling and growing voice of concern regarding potential dangers lurking in Chinese manufactured chemicals and glues -- so much so that I would not be comfortable purchasing cabinets that were simply "built and assembled" in the US.

I did check on the other cabinetry manufacturers Costco offers and was surprised to see that a new low cost, plywood line called "Classico" is being offered through Tuscan Hills Cabinetry. (XPressions is a Canadian European style company). Seems like a pretty comprehensive offering, and claim to be "Made in the USA". (over 170 door styles/finishes where Allwood has 12??????) I have a quote from Allwood and Kraftmaid, which my husband uploaded to Tuscan Hills today. Curious to see where the price falls as the website states "Save 20%" and "USA Quality at "import and assemble price". We choose Classico's Milan door in maple chocolate glaze as it compares to Allwood's Ridgeway mocha glaze.

Will update, maybe this new Costco cabinetry brand is worth a look.

In Illinois Costco is charging tax based on pre discount price on all their in-store promotions. Does it apply to All Wood kitchen cabinets also? Considering promotions ranging from 20 to 40% this would mean few hundreds difference in my case. Does anyone know? Thank you.

In response to the posting by Rick //2012.01.12 at 11:16pm.

As part of our on-going mission to bring to our consumers high quality, environmentally safe products, our cabinets are manufactured with premium quality CARB2 compliant plywood that meets the California Phase II Formaldehyde Emission Standards for indoor air quality. The California standards are the most stringent standards in the U.S., and products that meet the California standards meet and exceed all other state standards.

I heard that a lot of kids and elderly are having problems with their asthma after these cabinets from China are installed. I can't find anyone who will guarantee that these cabinets are not fabricated without any harmful chemicals. Anybody else here about this?

Recap - cabinets all arrived safely, delivery was very smooth, all packaged well. There were a couple of doors that had nicks in them and they sent replacements immediately, no questions asked (I took pics and everything, they didn't ask to see them). More importantly, I made two serious errors: not ordering a Lazy Susan 36-inch corner cabinet (just a plain corner) and I STILL mis-measured something, needed a 30 inch not a 33, which I didn't discover until it was on the wall. But they were great about it - send me a Lazy Susan kit AND took back the cabinet even though I had installed it. I wound up not using any of the crown moulding - it just didn't go with the "look" of mine - Fulton Mocha Glaze, kinda sleek and modern, and yup, easy return. Both I and my installer were impressed with the quality from the soft-close drawers to the overall construction. And they look terrific. I am sure there are higher end cabinets out there, but for the money, there is nothing better than AWF, short of full on custom, and frankly I wasn't about to spend that kind of money or wait forever. I would use them again and recommend them.

AWC is receiving doors, drawer fronts, frace frames, drawer runners, and hinges from china. Using imported wood (from china) and assembling them here in the states. (Built in USA). There are many companies out there that give the illusion of being an American company. Don't be fooled. If is too good to be true is usually is.

Hi. I purchased 2 bathroom vanities from All Wood Cab last year. At best I wood give them an average rating. The vanities do look nice but I don't see them as being of real high quality. Also, they use(d) a very cheap and poor method of attaching the front faces onto the vanity structure - both attachments were broken, if not before they arrived, at least by the time they were installed. I called All Wood and they immediately sent new, differently designed, attachment pieces. I have not installed them but looking at them I'm not sure they're much of an improvement on the originals. One further gripe is that they shipped them thru a second rate shipper and I actually had to go meet the deliverer, transfer them to my vehicle, and get them home myself, because the tractor trailer wouldn't come up my regular-width paved dead-end street.

All in all, an OK product at an OK price.

Suzanne - I can't answer for sure, but I know at my local Costco store, they have a cabinet service displayed that is NOT All Wood Cabinets. I asked AW people and they said they are not the same, that each store might have something, but AWC is it's own company. Does that help?

How many companies does Costco work with? Tuscan hills was one that was advertised & available in Massachusetts. Are they all the same company (All wood & tuscan hills & I believe I've seen 2 other names). Seems very strange to me. Does someone have any insight into this? Thanks..I'm really confused.
