Costco has recently announced that they will be trying to open six new Australian warehouses in the next three years! That’s got to make all the Costco fans in Australia happy. The next location they are hoping to open is in Sydney, if they can get the go ahead to start building. After that the plans are to open locations in Brisbane and Canberra next.
Costco in Australia has already signed up more than 75,000 members, and that is with the sole location in Melbourne. Costco has said that they are on track to meet the 100,000 member mark, though they didn’t say how quickly that might happen.
Costco’s CFO, Richard Galanti, said that “It means instead of doing three [locations] in three years total, we will do hopefully five or six [in Australia]”.
This sounds like things are going really quite well for Costco in Australia. I’ll try to keep everyone posted with any announcements I hear regarding the other Australian locations.
