If you’re one of the people that is interested in applying for a position at the soon-to-be Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia Costco, you’re going to be joining a long line of fellow applicants. There have already been more than 1,100 applications submitted in just a couple of days. But Costco is actually expecting to receive between 6,000 and 8,000 applications! Sadly, there are only between 150 – 200 positions to fill right now. Once they are fully up and running, there will be about 300 different positions though with 60 per cent being part time (that’s the typical amount for other locations).
Fort Oglethorpe Mayor Ronnie Cobb says that Costco agreed to hire Catoosa County residents first when possible. “Times are hard,” Cobb said. “There’s a lot of people hurting right now who would jump in a minute to get one of the Costco jobs.”
If you are interested in applying, you can do so through Costco.com’s online application process. You’ll need to dedicate somewhere between 10 to 60 minutes to fully complete the application. However, you can also come back and complete it at a different time once you start the application. Costco offers some of the best benefits and pay packages in their industry with the lowest starting wage of $11.00 an hour and the average hourly pay around $19.00. They also offer a full range of benefits such as health care, vision, 401(k), etc. For more information, you can take a look at the Costco Employment Benefits webpage. As you can see on that page, benefits are available to full and part time hourly employees (though with varying probationary periods from 3 – 6 months). If you are looking for other types of positions, such as licensed Pharmacists, or you just want to know more about what it’s like to work at Costco, they’ve got a webpage for that too. You can use these same links to apply for positions at any of the upcoming locations.
The Fort Oglethorpe location is scheduled to open October 29, 2010.
