Weddings with Costco: Kirstie Kelly Wedding Gown Line for Costco

March 2nd, 2011 · 4 Comments

As a follow on to my post about buying a diamond engagement ring at Costco, I decided I should finally cover all of the various ways that Costco can actually help out with the plans for your wedding too.  Seriously, just about the only thing they can’t help you with is deciding who should be your maid of honor and stopping family squabbles.  If you didn’t know, through Costco.com you can buy flowers, invitations, some food items like cutely decorated cookies, as well as photo books and prints for all of the lovely photos you will have afterwards.  And of course, you can book your honeymoon through Costco Travel.  Now, they have teamed up with a wedding dress designer, so you can even get the dress of your dreams from Costco too.

In-Store Trunk Shows featuring the Kirstie Kelly Signature Collection for Costco

It was recently announced that Costco has teamed up with designer Kirstie Kelly to sell designer wedding gowns for at least 40% off  through a series of trunk shows at a selection of stores in California.  Since those start tomorrow, I figured I should talk about the wedding dresses first.

For most brides, the dress is a key element in planning the perfect wedding.  And while it is not hard to look through the bridal magazines and find a bunch of gowns that you would like to buy, having the money to get a designer gown isn’t always in the budget.  So, Costco is here to help you out with savings of at least 40% off a special collection from designer Kirstie Kelly.

The Kirstie Kelly Signature collection will be made up of six gowns that have been designed exclusively for Costco.  The dresses will cost $699.00 to $1,399.00 and will be available in sizes 2 through 24.  Each of the Signature gowns features a fully constructed bodice, or corset, inside the gown. The fabrics range from lush satins to silk organzas to Alencon lace, incorporating crystal and pearl beading as well as handmade details such as flowers. You will also be able to purchase fingertip and cathedral-length veils.

“Kirstie Kelly Signature is designed to ensure each bride looks and feels radiant in a dress that complements her natural beauty.  The Costcouture line is for the bride who wants to wear Kirstie Kelly Couture but get a phenomenal price point. We’re starting at 40% off regular retail,” said Kelly, whose gowns normally cost $2,000-$7,000.

As you can see in the images above, the dresses are really beautiful.   If you want to find out more information about the dresses, including fabrics and prices as well as larger images, you can find all of that on the Kirstie Kelly website.  While you are there you can also make an appointment to see one of the expert bridal consultants at the Costco trunk show nearest you.  You can also make an appointment through the Costco.com website.  And of course, you can just walk in to the salons at the trunk show locations too.  Since there are only a limited amount of dresses available, it is highly recommended that you make an appointment though.

There will be four trunk shows in California Costco stores throughout the month of March; each show will last for four days.  During the trunk shows, you  will be able to step into the miniature salons set up inside the stores and try on gowns with the help of expert staff from Kirstie Kelly.  The salons will be carpeted and fully walled off from the rest of the store; no looking at the car batteries over your reflection in the mirror.

So, unfortunately, you will have to be able to get to California to take advantage of this special event.  Though, I would hope that if it is a successful partnership, this is an idea that they would be willing to roll out to other areas in the country.  Here’s a list of the locations and dates:

  • Torrance:  March 3-6, 2751 Skypark Drive, Torrance 90505
  • San Bernardino: March 10-13, 1099 E. Hospitality Lane, San Bernadino 92408
  • Los Angeles: March 17-20, 2901 Los Feliz Boulevard, Los Angeles 90039
  • Van Nuys: March 24-27, 6100 Sepulveda Blvd., Van Nuys 91411

Stay tuned for my next post on Costco’s selection of announcements and invitations that can be purchased through Costco.com.

It’s just a funny coincidence because I hadn’t seen the latest Costco Connection until you mentioned they were writing about weddings too. I guess I’ll have to check it out now.
