Costco Announces Quarterly Dividend

July 26th, 2012 · 3 Comments

Good news for those of you that own Costco stock, the latest quarterly dividend was announced this week! Back in May, the board decided to raise the dividend from $0.24 per share to $0.275 per share, or $1.10 per share on an annualized basis. ┬áThe current dividend will be payable August 24, 2012 to shareholders of record at the close of business on August 10, 2012. My guess (based on historical data) is that the dividend amount will remain at $0.275 until May 2013, when it will hopefully get bumped up again. Currently, the stock is trading at $93.75, which isn’t too far off of its 52-week high of $96.43. That is really quite good if you consider that the 52-week low was just $70.22 (August 2011). Go Costco!

You have probably signed up for automatic reinvestment of your dividends back into your account.

I guess I’m not very smart with stocks… I’ve had Costco stock for years, but don’t remember ever getting dividends. How do we get dividends? Do they come in a way other than a check? Thanks!
