Guest Post: Have You Tried the Tuscan Hills Cabinetry from Costco?

Tuscan Hills Cabinetry through Costco

I know that all of the previous cabinetry talk on here has been about the All Wood Cabinets, but Costco has a new line now: Tuscan Hills Cabinetry.  One of my readers is hoping that someone has tried them out and can give her an opinion on the quality of the cabinets, the ease of dealing with the company, if they were damaged on delivery, etc.

If you haven’t seen anything about the new cabinet line from Costco, you can find it all online.  The Tuscan Hills kitchen and bath cabinetry is made in the USA and offers lots of nice features for Costco members, as well as a digital measurement service where they take the measurements from digital photos that you upload (they have specific guidelines for the photos).  How cool is that?  Certainly it is easier to take some photos than it would be to do all the measurements and take all of the responsibility on yourself for the accuracy of those measurements.

Along with reducing the stress by letting them take the measurements, the Tuscan Hills Cabinetry has these other great features:

  • All plywood box construction
  • Full-extension, soft-close drawer guides
  • Hardwood dovetail drawers
  • Soft-close doors
  • Hundreds of door styles and finishes available at Costco Member pricing
  • Shipping and handling always included

So, if you’ve tried these or are in the process of ordering Tuscan Hills Cabinetry through Costco, it would be great if you could share your thoughts.  Thanks!

I am finally finishing up my Tuscan Hills Ultimo kitchen. The cabinets look beautiful and are well made and a good value. The contractors all comment on how nice they are. Customer Service has been a big help and they have resolved any questions or problems. We love our new American made cabinets!

@Almost Done – Congrats on being finished with the new kitchen! And thanks for sharing your experience and impressions of the cabinets here.

Ordered 3 cabinets from Tuscan Hill Cabinetry. Chose the classico collection to match our existing kitchen cabinets. Response from the customer service agent and designer was very prompt and they talked me through the entire design and ordering process. Sent out color samples and the new cabinets match the ones we have exactly. Much better selection than All Wood Cabinetry. The finish on the cabinets is great as is the price. Out total invoice was at least 20% less than a big box store despite the better inside finishes and better shelving options. Shipping was quick. Cabinets arrived without damage about three weeks from day of order and look great installed. Though the outside of the cabinet is an exact match to our existing ones, the inside finishes are so much better that we might have to consider getting new cabinets for the entire kitchen!

Starmark Cabinetry is owned by Norcraft. http://www.norcraftcompanies.com

So I guess Tuscan Hills is a Norcraft brand.

Andrea – That’s good to hear! There is so little information on the web about Tuscan Hills. Did you order from the Classico line or the Ultimo line? What wood and color did you choose? Just curious. I’m getting close to finishing my design. Waiting for some info, then I’ll order a door, or two. Thanks for posting.

I ordered my dream kitchen! I just checked my invoice and it was the Antonio Inset in white for the main cabinets and the Amaretto Old World for my island. They are the Ultimo line. I went a bit over budget, but it was well worth it in the end.

We ordered over $11,000 worth of cabinets from Tuscan Hills Cabinetry based on the color samples they had sent us. When we opened the boxes the night before the install, we were shocked. The color was nothing like the samples they had sent. We expected Cherry Java, and what we received was some antique-like finish that was horrible. If I could upload a picture here, I would to show you. Out of 19 boxes we opened over half and all were horrible. There was only one side panel that was remotely close to the correct color. I cannot believe these cabinets went through two levels of quality control- both at the glazing point and the package stage.

We decided to give Tuscan Hills the opportunity to fix their mistake only to be told that they couldn’t manufacture the java color based on the two matching java samples they had sent us. How unprofessional! We purposely ordered from them to keep the work in the US. But, their lack of quality control is not worth it.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from this vendor. Learn from our mistakes.

I received my Tuscan Hills cabinets two weeks ago.

My cabinet installation is complete and I will have my granite installed this weekend. this is my third and hopefully last kitchen and both my installer and I agree that these are top quality cabinets. I feel bad for not actually blogging about this. It seems like we are quicker to leave a negative comment about a bad experience than a positive one, and I wanted to make sure I did not waste another moment before expressing my delight with the product, the service, the design and the on-time delivery.

Our cabinets exceeded our expectation and I will wholeheartedly recommend them.

‘Don’t Order From Tuscan Hills’ – I’m sorry to hear of your experience, that is indeed frustrating and terribly inconvenient! I feel for you. Did you order the Sample Door? I am not going to rely on the little sample ‘chips’ they sent, they look so cheap anyway. Once I narrow this down I’ll pay the $30 and order a full door in the wood/finish I am thinking about ordering. I read somewhere online that these little ‘chips’ are mass produced for different companies, so I don’t think they are all that accurate. So what’s the bottom line – you have to keep the cabinets? I wonder why they didn’t tell you beforehand that they couldn’t match the color.

What we wanted in a cabinet was pretty simple -a plain shaker door in Java finish. We wanted more of a comtemporary look that they showmon the website. We didn’t order the door because we didn’t think we needed to. They had sent us two separate color chips that both matched. In fact, they match the color chip you see TH website. But the cabinets we’re something totally different.

They sent a rep from Starmark over and he wanted us to install the cabinets. He said that TH would find someone to paint them. Really? Once we install them, the cabinets become ours. Plus, we didn’t order painted cabinets to begin with and didn’t want them painted. Thanks, but no thanks. We sent them back and asked for replacements.

That’s when I asked for the door. I waited and waited, but no door was sent. They demanded via text message that I send back both color chips in order to receive the door. I said I would gladly send back one chip but wanted to keep the other to compare it to the door. We called to follow up and received an email saying they couldn’t produce a sample door to match the chips.

Bottom line, they couldn’t deliver their product based on their sample color chips. Very unprofessional.

So sorry to hear, this is very different from my experience. I’m curious, did they refund the $11,000?

          • 12 Don't Order Tuscan Hills // 2013.03.05 at 12:16 pm

            Costco refunded the money.

BTW, it was the custome Ultimo line. I would encourage all to inspect the cabinets upon delivery and not wait until the day before the install after you’ve emptied your entire kitchen.

        • 13 mominator // 2013.03.05 at 1:33 pm

So glad Costco refunded you! Good advice not to wait to open the box.

Here it is a full month since I initiated contact with Tuscan Hills and I am still not ready to order the door sample. After numerous phone calls, I finally received efficient and informative correspondence recently. I am looking at the Ultimo line now, but it has taken this long to get pricing information that could get me into that line within our budget. I think I read the lead time is 4-6 weeks, but haven’t asked. They seem really busy. It takes about a week to get a sample door, so again, everything else in our kitchen remodel will be done…and I’ll be waiting on cabinets. That said, tomorrow I’m meeting with a local cabinet dealer whose lead time is 4 weeks. I’ll decide soon whether to go with Tuscan Hills, or not.

Are you going to order new cabs through TH, or through someone else?

I am not going to order cabinets through the Internet. I’ve learned my lesson.

UPDATE: I am in the process of getting a cabinet bid and design for my kitchen remodel. So far, working with Tuscan Hills has been tedious. I have been working with them for several weeks, almost a month. The response time has been about a week each, and that was only after persistent follow-up. I am finally getting a phone appointment today with a design specialist. The contact has been friendly…just slow. IDK what the deal is, but if they’re going to take on Costco customers, they’d better beef up their staff.

We are looking at the Classico line, after learning the Ultimo line was out of our price range. After we nail down the design and order, Tuscan Hills will prepare final documents for signature, then we pay, and from payment ’til curbside delivery is estimated 3-4 weeks. So, considering it is taking so long to work with them thus far, it is pushing our end of project out farther than we’d like.

I am also looking at Tuscan Hills Cabinetry and hope that someone will post soon about them!

I am disenchanted with All Wood Cabinetry after learning their products are made in China. :-/

Not to mention….Tuscan Hills Cabinetry has endless choices…and there are very few offered at All Wood Cabinetry.

I’m looking for more information about Tuscan Hills Cabinetry: am considering ordering as well. Thank you.

A little research on the internet (using the address listed on the warranty info) reveals that these cabinets are made by starmark cabinetry.
