The last I had heard, Costco Australia didn’t even have coupon books, so I was really pleased when I went to their website this morning and saw that they have a coupon book out now. And not only are there coupons, but they’ve got it posted online so that you can check it out before you get to the store. So, this month you will find $870.00 in savings across 56 coupons on everything from televisions and printers to food to razors and cleaning supplies. Their book is quite similar, though smaller, to the US or UK coupon books. I really wish that they would provide pricing information for all of the coupons though; I really liked that about the UK coupon books. I would say that the majority of coupons have pricing information but it seems kind of random because it isn’t consistent across categories; for instance, most but not all food coupons have prices. But really, I’m just glad to see that they have coupon books and have them posted online. Go Costco Australia!
I haven’t uploaded this coupon book since you can get it directly from the Costco Australia site where you can view it online or download the PDF (why doesn’t the US do this if Canada, UK, Korea, and Australia all do?). According to the Costco Australia website they send out an email informing members that there is a coupon book online that they can view, that is if you have supplied them with your email address of course. That is in addition to handing out the coupons at the door. They say they only offer coupons about twice per year, which seems really infrequent in comparison to all of the other locations that offer coupons. Can any Costco Australia members confirm this?
Browsing through the coupon books for a location where I haven’t actually shopped is really interesting. Australia seems to have an interesting overlap with the US and UK (and probably Canada if I knew more about what they have in their stores). But like all of the locations, there are brands that I’ve never heard of too.
I was really pleased to see a coupon for $4.00 off Duracell batteries, either a 36 pack of AA or a 24 pack of AAA batteries. We brought our Wii with us and the arm and leg bands use actually batteries, and depending on how much I exercise they can really go through them quite quickly. We figured it was easier to skip dragging batteries 10,000 miles around the globe and would just buy them here, so I’m really happy that we can get a deal on them now. Unfortunately, this is one of the items in the coupon book that doesn’t have pricing information, but I have a feeling they’ll be cheaper at Costco than at my nearby Coles or Woolworths, in any case.
Finish dishwasher tablets fall into this same category of things we need but definitely weren’t going to bring with us. Luckily there is a coupon for $6.00 off 3, 20 tablets bags of Finish Quantum tablets. These tablets are so great and get your dishes sparkling clean without spots. Razors and refill cartridges can also be added to our list of Costco essentials and there are coupons for both men’s and women’s razors this month. You can get $10.00 off a 20 pack of Gillette Mach 3 Turbo razor cartridges. Then there’s a coupon for $5.00 off the Gillette and Olay pack with a razor and 8 cartridges. So, everyone in your house can get a smooth shave and save some money this month.
There are several coupons on items that I have reviewed before, either while in the US or UK. There’s a coupon for $4.00 off a case of San Pellegrino sparkling mineral water (24, 500 ml bottles); just $25.99 after the coupon. You can also save $3.00 off any of the Rodeo Joe’s lineup of Jalapeno Flamers, Waffle Fries, Mozzarella Sticks, and/or Onion Rings. We haven’t tried the waffle fries, so clearly we will need to get some of those. Also, there’s a $4.00 savings on my favourite Oral-B Criss Cross Toothbrushes; 8 toothbrushes for $14.99. If you haven’t bought these, now is the time. They do an excellent job of cleaning your teeth gently and your teeth (and dentist) will thank you.
On a price comparison note, there is a coupon for $5.00 off Hercules sandwich bags. At Costco you get a pack of 6, 150 bag boxes for $22.49 after the coupon. That price means that 100 bags are just $2.49, which is the same price for half the bags (a box of 50) at the Coles or Woolworths by us. So, even without the coupon they are still going to be so much cheaper, it’s amazing. Makes me glad that I have a Costco membership.
