Well, since we haven’t made it to Costco Australia yet, I figured I would write about something really exciting to everyone in the US: coupons. This new coupon book starts on this coming Thursday, January 31 and runs through February 24. It has $1,900.00 in savings in the warehouses and then an additional $5,800.00 in Costco.com savings. That’s about $400.00 more in warehouse savings this month. The coupons look pretty great to me but that might just be because I’m having Costco withdrawal.
I’ve uploaded the new Costco US Coupon Book PDF (or view it in the Google PDF viewer) so you can browse it if you haven’t gotten yours yet. While you can print these out for reference purposes, Costco only accepts the original coupons (if your location requires you to hand them in at all). If you didn’t get your book or never do, you should stop by Customer Service and make sure that they have all of your mailing information correct and that you have allowed them permission to send you things in the mail. Also, while you’re there, ask them for a copy of the latest book. If you were not aware, the coupon books are only mailed to the primary member on the account. Also, don’t forget that in the US you can now download the Costco app for your smartphone and get the current coupons as well as many other helpful bits of Costco information.
As usual, in the regular coupon area there’s one for $70.00 off a set of Michelin tires. This coupon is special because it actually runs through March 3 too. So, you have a bit longer to decide if you want or need a new set of tires.
I noticed that there is a coupon for $3.75 off a 24 pack of the Izze Sparkling Juice. I was just sharing some email with someone who had recently discovered this in the glass bottles and really liked it, as well as the reasonable prices at Costco. So I’m sure she’ll be happy to see this coupon, though it is just for the 8.4 ounce cans instead of the cute glass bottles.
One of my other favorite Costco things has an instant savings coupon this month: the pepperoni take and bake pizza. You can get $3.00 off this month, which makes this very large, very good pizza just $5.99. You’ll never find a deal that good for a nice pizza like this at any of the pizza places. I love the take and bake pizzas because you can get the crust nice and crispy on the bottom. Yum! Totally worth the $6.00.
There’s also a coupon for $5.00 off a 42 piece Snapware food storage set, which makes the set just $19.99. I love love love my Snapware containers. When you snap on the lid, it is very tight and no amount of shaking, jostling, or dumping upside down will make it leak. The 42 piece set is great because it gives you a nice variety of sizes and shapes that should mean you are able to store just about anything you have a need for. We use them in the kitchen, but I’ve also found that they are really nice for storing things like batteries or electronics bits and bobs. I bought my current 36 piece set right before we went to London and was so glad I purchased it! The seal is so good that food seems to keep better in it. Or, if you have a very pungent thing like a partially used onion, you can put it in there and it won’t smell up the rest of your fridge.
If 2013 is the year you have decided to get your finances in order and make the switch to tracking everything on your computer, you might be interested in the coupons for Intuit’s Quicken and/or QuickBooks Pro finance software. We’ve been using Quicken for ages, like early 90s. It is quite easy to use and set up for all of your financial things like credit cards, checking and savings accounts, retirement accounts like IRAs or 401(k), as well as things like loans for cars, homes, or anything else. It’s great because you can download the transactions and statements from your banks, or other financial institutions, right into the software to make things just that little bit easier. Plus, come tax time, you can use it to make doing your taxes with TurboTax a little bit smoother as well. The software will even help you set financial goals and track your progress. This month at Costco or Costco.com you can save $20.00 off a copy of Quicken Deluxe or Quicken Home and Business. Or, if you’ve got a small business you can get up to $65.00 off QuickBooks Pro for PC or Mac, or QuickBooks Pro plus Payroll. It’s been a really long time since I used QuickBooks Pro but if you’ve got a small business it is very useful because it can track all kinds of business related expenses, invoices, and billing.
Those are just some of my favorite items this month, but I did also want to mention that you can save up to $10.00 on Costco.com when you buy your Valentine’s Day flowers. But you do need to order by February 8 or 9 for delivery by February 12 or 13!
