Costco UK Coupon Book: September 23 – October 13, 2013

September 21st, 2013 · No Comments

The new Costco UK coupon book starts on Monday, 23 September and runs through the first part of October, until 13 October.  It has coupons valued at more than £550.00 in savings, which is quite a bit less than the previous coupon book.  There are several things in this new coupon book that I would like to take advantage of, but I’ll have to keep myself in check since we are still in a temporary serviced apartment.  *sigh*  But there are plenty of great coupons for everyday items that you might want to stock your pantry.  Also, there’s a page highlighting special deals that can  only be found online at Costco.co.uk, including one for a giant 58″ LED television with wifi for under £1,000.00.  That’s a whole lot of TV.

Costco UK Coupon Book: September 23 – October 13, 2013

I’ve uploaded the new Costco UK Coupon Book PDF (or view it in the Google PDF viewer).  If you didn’t get your book or never do, you should stop by Customer Service and make sure that they have all of your mailing information correct and that you have allowed them permission to send you things in the mail.  Also, while you’re there, ask them for a copy of the latest book if they didn’t hand you one when you walked in the store.  In the UK they print the coupons on both sides of the pages and without the codes, so they clearly do not want you to clip the coupons out and give them to your cashier; they just automatically deduct them after they ring up your items.  I love this method of couponing and I’m glad to see that it seems all Costco locations in the world are following suit.  I do still find it useful to have a copy so I know what to look for because I don’t always notice the signs that they’ve posted to let you know what has a coupon.  I usually download a copy of the PDF to my phone before I go to the store so that I can easily reference it while shopping.  If you sign up to receive emails from Costco.co.uk, they will send out an email that lets you know that the new coupon book is available online, usually the weekend before the new book starts.  Since they now post the coupons on the Costco UK website, you can always download a copy of the latest coupon book from there; you can also find a link to it on the Warehouses webpage.

If you have a baby, there’s a nice coupon for £2.00 off Pampers Baby Fresh Wipes.  At Costco you get a bundle of 12 packages of 64 wipes, a total of 768 wipes, for £9.58 (with VAT) after the discount is applied.  Even with the normal Costco price of £9.99 (before VAT) on these wipes, you are still saving significantly over buying them at a regular retailer where they are at least £1.00 for a single pack of 64 wipes, meaning you would pay at least £12.00 for the same amount as at Costco.  But when you account for the extra £2.00 off, it is a super good deal.

Of course, you know that I feel compelled to mention that there is a coupon for the Oral-B Pro Expert toothpaste, aka The Wonder Toothpaste.  You can get 20% off 4, 75ml tubes of my favourite Oral-B ProExpert toothpaste (£8.14with VAT), 4, 75ml tubes of Oral-B 3D White toothpaste (£8.34 with VAT), or 3, 500ml bottles of Oral-B ProExpert Mouthwash (£6.70 with VAT).  I didn’t know they had a companion mouthwash until now.  I wonder if it works as spectacularly as the toothpaste.  I might have to get some to try it out.  But really, nothing gets my teeth as clean and leaves them with that fresh from the dentist gleam like this toothpaste, and with 20% off  there’s definitely something to smile about.  While the tubes may sound small at just 75ml, that will last us about 4 weeks with both of us brushing once per day (don’t tell my dentist I don’t brush twice a day please).  The toothpaste is more runny than other kinds so you don’t seem to use as much.  And the good thing about the smaller tubes is that you can take them with you on an airplane.  And did I mention that your teeth will feel instantly cleaner and look better? I will admit that sometimes, when they are running super special deals, you can save a bit more at ASDA, however, usually that is not the case and Costco has the better deals.  And they definitely have the better deal on this toothpaste when compared to places like Boots, Ocado, Tesco, or Superdrug (which is really SuperHigh on this).

Two of my favourite laundry products also have deals this in this coupon book.  The Fairy Non-Bio Liquitabs have a coupon for 35% off a 45 tab container.  After the discount the price is £7.40 with VAT.  Since you’ll pay more than that (like about £10.00 without VAT) at places like Tesco or Ocado, and still only get 30 liquitabs, you can see Costco is a much better deal.  Even at ASDA where the 30 tab container is £6.00 (or £0.20 per tab) that is still considerably more than at Costco (£0.16 per tab).  For various reasons, I like the convenience of these liquitabs.  They seem to do a good job on my clothing and I never have problems with them dissolving even in 30 C water temperatures.  For colours and whites, I always pair with Vanish OxiAction to keep my colours vibrant and my whites dazzlingly bright, and luckily it also has a coupon this month.  I was sceptical the first time I tried the Vanish but after using it for a while I could certainly tell a difference, most notably in white things like socks and t-shirts.  This month you can get either form of Vanish for 30% off a 1.5 kg container.  After the discount the total is £5.78 with VAT.  I find that the 1.5 kg lasts quite a while too.

One of the other coupons that I really like this month is for the JosephJoseph chopping board set for £4.00 off.  The set is very cute and comes with four colour coded chopping boards and their own little stand so that you can keep them always to hand.  I’ve had an older version of this set for three years and love it.  They are sturdy boards that are a good size, neither too big or too small.  They are dishwasher safe and even though they have some marks on them from knives, they still are in quite good condition, I think.  Plus, the price at Costco is way, way better than any place else I’ve ever seen these.  After the coupon the final price is just £19.18 (with VAT) as compared to £35 – 40.00 at other places.

Funny enough, I just wrote about this same coupon in the Costco Canada Autumn coupon book post, and here it is in the UK now.  The Super Plush Sherpa Throw for £3.00 off is awesome.  We have two of these throws and love them because they are so incredibly soft and comfy.  They are the perfect size for a cuddle on the sofa when it is cold out.  I wash mine quite often and still find that they look great and are still as soft and plushy, even after years of snuggling.  We first bought one in the US, so more than 4 years ago and it looks just as good as it did then.  They seem to have these same throws at all of the Costco locations because we’ve also seen them in Australia.  Clearly they are very popular with the Costco crowd.  After the discount this month, you’ll pay just £11.98 (with VAT).

Here’s another coupon similar to one in the latest Costco Canada book: Kidde Carbon Monoxide Detectors.  Even if you have one, maybe you should buy a second or third.  This month you can save £3.00 on a detector, making it just £8.38 (with VAT).  Carbon monoxide is a colourless, tasteless, odourless toxic gas that can come from equipment that uses combustion to produce heat, such as fuel fired heaters, gas water heaters, gas stoves, fireplaces or wood burning stoves, gas dryers, grills, lawnmowers, and of course cars.  It isn’t something you’re going to notice until it is already too late, most likely.  When you have carbon monoxide poisoning you kind of just feel like you have the flu because the symptoms are mostly innocuous things like headache, fatigue, nausea, dizziness, and shortness of breath (more troubling if you notice it).  You should definitely have a carbon monoxide detector on each floor, especially by the bedrooms and it is best if you also have one near any indoor appliances that are burning gas, fuel, or wood so that you can immediately tell if there’s a problem.  So, for the price I think you would have to agree that it is better to be safe than sorry.

There are several other coupons that I really like too and I’m sure everyone will find at least a couple of coupons that are perfect for them this month as well.  So, be sure to give the book a through look before you plan your next trip to Costco.
