Costco US Coupon Book: January 30 – February 23, 2014

January 30th, 2014 · 11 Comments

Well, for the first time in a really really long time, like years honestly, I haven’t been able to publish a copy of the Costco US coupon book before it was active.  Sorry about that but I just didn’t get a copy of the book this month that I could actually use to create a readable PDF.  In any case, the new coupon book starts today and runs throughout most of February (until the 23rd).  There’s $1,400.00 in warehouse coupons this month and then another $7,100.00 in Costco.com savings too.  The value is about the same as the one for January.

I’ve not uploaded a copy of the current coupon book, but you can view the coupons online or through the Costco smartphone app.  You can find the warehouse offers and the online only offers available to view at Costco.com (there are links from the homepage for both).    If you weren’t aware, Costco has updated their coupon policy for “streamlined savings”.  Basically, that means that you won’t have to clip coupons (if you ever needed to for your location anyway) again, but instead you can just show the cashier the coupon book.  Or, if that is too much for you to remember to bring, you can get the latest Costco smartphone app that will allow you to use the coupons in the app for in-store redemption.  Now all you have to do to redeem the coupons is show the cashier your smartphone with the Costco app or the Costco coupon book.  So, if you’ve got a smartphone and haven’t downloaded the Costco app yet, this is the perfect reason to do so.  You can get the app for either iPhone or Android in their respective app stores.  The only coupons that you must have the app or coupon book to redeem are the ones with the blue arrow, but there are still plenty of instant savings deals as well.  For many they didn’t have to clip coupons anyway, so this isn’t necessarily all that different.  The one big change is that Costco says that they will no longer have extra copies of the coupon book available at the warehouses.   If you didn’t get your book or never do, you should stop by Customer Service and make sure that they have all of your mailing information correct and that you have allowed them permission to send you things in the mail.  Or, just use the Costco smartphone app but they aren’t visible until the coupons start.  Lastly, you can also view them on the Costco.com website but they’re only available when the coupon book is active, so again no preview, but that’s what you have me for (usually)!

As usual, there’s a coupon for $70.00 off a set of new tires; this month the brand of choice is Michelin.  This is one of the coupons that will require you to show either your physical coupon book or the app.  You can also take advantage of this deal through Costco.com.  Also, this coupon/deal is good for a bit longer than the rest of the book since it runs through March 2, 2014.   With all of the extremely nasty winter weather going around all of the US, this might be the perfect time to get a new set of tires.

I know I harp on about this every time Costco anywhere has a coupon for it, but seriously, if you don’t have a smoke alarm or a carbon monoxide detector, as well as plenty of fire extinguishers, this is the time to rectify that possibly deadly mistake.  These are things that people overlook or let the batteries run down in but it is much better to be prepared for the worst, and have it hopefully never happen.  This month you can save $7.00 off First Alert fire extinguishers and carbon monoxide or smoke alarms.

I wanted to point out the great Snapware Total Solutions Food Storage Set too.  With this coupon book you can save $5.00 off of this 38 piece set and I’m sure this makes it more than worth it.  I bought a set of this right before we moved to London in 2010 and love it!  It was reasonably priced for the quality of the storage containers.  But really, the special point about these is the terrific gasket lid system with the “snap” lock.  When it closes, you know it is a super tight seal and you know that it is fully closed because of the “snap” sound.  I use these for all kinds of storage needs, both temporary and long term (like sugar and stuff).  I like it so much that I replaced a Pyrex set with the glass Snapware set.  We also use the smaller containers for other household storage things and they are great for that because the lids are so secure and they stack quite well.  I have also noticed that when I store things like vegetables or fruit in these in the fridge, they seem to stay fresher longer and that is always a good thing when you shop at Costco.

I also would like to point out the Wild Planet Albacore Tuna coupon for $4.00 off 6, 5 ounce cans of some of the best tuna I’ve had in a long time.  It is really nice big hunks of albacore tuna, just the good stuff nothing bad hiding in the bottom of the can even.  I just bought some of this recently at our Costco here in the UK and we have been really impressed with the quality.  It made delicious tuna salad, but is also excellent naked right on a salad.  I imagine it would be great mixed with pasta too paired with some capers and black olives maybe.  I haven’t had a chance to write a review about this yet, but I’ll give you the basics here.  The tuna is all hand cut and packed in a micro-cannery process.  And the tuna is in steaks, unlike a lot of canned tuna.  Also, they do not add any liquid at all so you retain all of the good oils found in fish, and they warn you not to drain the tuna when taking it from the can.  All that they have in the can is albacore tuna and sea salt.  Also, they only use pole and troll caught fish.  You can see the quality of the fish as soon as you open the can, you can also smell a difference because it doesn’t have that rather potent scent that most canned fish have.  We really liked it and will certainly be buying more it on our next shopping trip to Costco.

There are lots of other good coupons in this month’s book; better than the last couple I think.  So, make sure to take a good look through it when planning your next trip to Costco.  And if you don’t have the smartphone app, you should download it and try it out.

The march coupon book begins march 6, do you know if it’s valid before that date? Like march 3rd?

@Monica – The coupons are only valid for the dates on them, they will not be allowed before or after those dates.

“$70.00 off a set of new tires; this month the brand of choice is Michelin.” Michelin is offering a $70 rebate on a set of new tires, therefore I doubt Costco is offering anything is the rebate.

@Bowman – The instant savings in the Costco coupon book is not the same as a Michelin rebate. I’m sure you will need to mail in or fill out a form that goes to Michelin to receive their rebate and it will take the standard 6 to 8 weeks.
