Guest Post: My New Maytag Dishwasher from Costco

June 12th, 2014 · No Comments

[Today I’ve got a guest post from my mom.  She recently bought a new dishwasher from Costco and wanted to share a bit about the experience and the dishwasher with everyone here.  She’s been shopping at Costco for years now, but before then she was all Walmart, Walmart, Walmart.  Now, she’s a total convert and loves Costco too.  She does her Costco shopping around Kansas City.]

I have an annoying daughter, that is always telling me: “You can get that at Costco.” You might know her, her name is Kimberly and she is Addicted to Costco. So when I recently needed a new dishwasher, I looked online at Costco.com. She was right, I could get it at Costco and I did. I ordered a Maytag under counter dishwasher with stainless steel tub (Maytag Jetclean Plus Dishwasher with 100% Stainless Steel Tub Interior, 6 Cycles, Item #814056, model number MDB7749SBM3). I paid $599, plus tax for a total of $642.89.  However, delivery and installation was free in my area.  The delivery was pretty quick too since it arrived at my house, in a rural location, just 10 days after I ordered it (they estimate one to two weeks).

When you order a dishwasher at Costco.com they provide a PDF list of zip codes where they will deliver and install, they also have the requirements for how the area needs to be prepped for them to do the install.  Unfortunately, I could not have the delivery people install the dishwasher, as I my area didn’t meet their requirements even though I had a dishwasher in the same location previously.  I think the requirements are a bit restrictive, however, I was lucky and my niece’s husband installed it for me with no problem.  He had installed dishwashers before and said it was fairly easy with no surprises.  My dishwasher included an electric cord, as I have a plug in. Some are direct wired, and they supply cord for that type of installation too.

If you are looking for a mid-priced dishwasher, I would highly recommend that your consider this one. It is extremely quiet, you have to look at the lights to know it is running. It cleans dishes great; no spots with Rinse Agent. The racks are adjustable so that you can put taller items in the top rack, and they roll in and out very smoothly too. This looks like a much more expensive dishwasher. My niece and her husband were so impressed with my dishwasher that they are ordering one for their house. They told me they did not know how much noise their dishwasher made until they heard this one, or didn’t hear it as the case may be. So even if you don’t NEED a new dishwasher, you might want to get a very quiet one at a great price.

My daughter was right: YOU CAN GET THAT AT COSTCO!
