After I saw the giant wheel of Parmesan at Costco.com, it made me wonder what kind of cheesy delights Costco.co.uk held. And just, wow, did they surpass anything I could have imagined or dreamed up. They have the perfect wedding “cake” for any cheese lover! Yes, I said wedding cake. It is a magnificent tower of cheese to celebrate any wedding with dairy-licious goodness!
There are actually two different wedding cheese cakes at Costco.co.uk and either one would be a really special treat, I think. You can get the smaller, Dorset Cheese Cake, that weighs 10 kilograms for £149.99. Or, if you’re really having a big wedding or a wedding of big cheese eaters, you can get the Dorchester Cheese Cake that weighs an impressive 15 kilograms for £194.99. Either way, that is a lot of cheese.
Each cake has tiers or layers that are made from different domestic cheeses and topped with a heart shaped cheese. They have them decorated with flowers and fruit in the photos, but I can’t quite determine if they come that way or not, though my guess is that you have to add that yourself. They might not come with flowers, but they do come with delivery included in the price, and you even get to name your preferred delivery date so you can get your wedding cheese just in time for the big day and not be tempted to snack on it beforehand instead.
I wonder how long you need to leave a 10 or 15 kilogram tower of cheese sitting out so that it is room temperature and ready to be served? Just think of all the crackers you’d need to go with this cheese tower. Thankfully, you have a Costco membership and can buy the bulk cracker packages. And you’ll definitely want to pick up some fruit at Costco to decorate your spectacular cheese cake, too. Grapes, figs, and berries would make a great edible decoration theme that goes perfectly with cheese. When I made my sister’s wedding cake I got these little tiny miniature grapes from Costco, I think they were called champagne grapes (I’ve unfortunately never seen them again though), and coated them with edible clear glitter which gave them a bit of shimmery prettiness. Something like that would be perfect with the wedding cheese cake.

I think this is a fun and tasty way to celebrate a wedding. Or really, any festive occasion. What party couldn’t do with more cheese? These would be terrific for a Christmas party, graduation celebration, or an anniversary. Or, if you’re like me, a birthday. I think they both have a great mix of cheese, but I do like the added variety of the Stilton and Goat cheeses in the smaller, Dorset cheese cake. You could always make a tiered cheese cake on your own with a selection of your favourite cheeses from Costco (of course). You just have to remember not to choose anything too soft or you’ll end up with the Leaning Tower of Cheeses instead a nice tiered cake.
I realize the wedding cheese cake might not be for everyone, but don’t forget to check out all of the other cool wedding things you can get at Costco, both online and in the store.
