Costco US Coupon Book: October 2 – 26, 2014

September 30th, 2014 · 4 Comments

The new Costco US coupon book starts on Thursday, October 2, and runs for most of the month, until October 26.  In the coupon this month there’s a decent savings of $1,100.00 in warehouse savings and another $6,600.00 in online only deals.  Pretty much everything in the book, including the tire coupon, is an instant savings deal.  There are only three coupons that require you to show the cashier your actual coupon book or the app on your phone for deals in the Photo Center and one in the Optical Center.  Unlike the last couple of coupon books, there’s a ton of stuff that I love this month and would totally buy if I didn’t already own it or if I lived in the US.  Luckily, there are a few deals that I’ll be able to take advantage of when we are in the US in October.

Costco US Coupon Book: October 2 – 26, 2014

This month I have uploaded the new Costco US Coupon Book PDF (or view it in the Google PDF viewer) , but you can also view the warehouse coupons on the website.  If you weren’t aware, Costco has updated their coupon policy for “streamlined savings”.  Basically, that means that you won’t have to clip coupons (if you ever needed to for your location anyway) again, but instead you can just show the cashier the coupon book to redeem any offers marked with a blue arrow (which will make more sense when you see the coupon book).  Or, if that is too much for you to remember to bring, you can get the latest Costco smartphone app that will allow you to use the coupons in the app for in-store redemption.  So, if you’ve got a smartphone and haven’t downloaded the Costco app yet, this is the perfect reason to do so.  You can get the app for either iPhone or Android in their respective app stores.  The only coupons that you must have the app or coupon book to redeem are the ones with the blue arrow, but the majority are instant savings deals lately.  For many, they didn’t have to clip coupons anyway, so this isn’t necessarily all that different.  The one big change is that Costco says that they will no longer have extra copies of the coupon book available at the warehouses.   If you didn’t get your book or never do, you should stop by Customer Service and make sure that they have all of your mailing information correct and that you have allowed them permission to send you things in the mail.  Or, just use the Costco smartphone app.  Lastly, you can also view them on the website.  Costco has recently started posting the coupons online and through the app before they actually start (like just a few days after the old ones expire), so that makes it easier and nicer for planning too.

As usual, there’s a coupon for $70.00 off a set of new tires; this month the brand of choice is Michelin.  The Costco Tire Center deals used to require you to have a physical coupon or the app, however, they have done away with that requirement recently and this is an instant savings deal.  You can also take advantage of this deal through  This might be the perfect time to get some new tires if you’re doing a lot of school year driving, or maybe planning on doing a lot of road trips for the holidays.

If you’ve got a baby or toddler, you’ll be thrilled, I’m sure, to see the deals for diapers this month.  There’s a instant savings of $5.00 on Kirkland Signature Supreme Diapers in sizes 1 – 6 with a limit of two.  There’s also an instant savings deal of $6.00 on Huggies Pull-Ups, also with a limit of two.  You can find these deals in your local warehouse or through

There are so many things I like and have written about in this current bunch of coupons, it is hard to choose which ones to highlight here.  So, if I don’t mention something you’re interested in, search my blog for previous reviews.  There are a few things though that I mention every single time they have a coupon because they are that good.

The Little Giant MegaMax 17′ Ladder coupon for $40.00 off is one of my favourites to mention.  This coupon comes around once a year, so if you want the world’s best ladder, you need to get over to Costco and pick one up before the end of this coupon book.  I bought this way back in July 2008 (with a coupon, of course) and we used it for tons of things around the house while remodeling our bathroom and other assorted projects.  We love it!  I like how light it is; I can move it around the house without crying or getting trapped under its weight.  But the really nice thing is that it is so flexible, you can use it in so many ways and at several different heights.  Plus, it folds up to be pretty small for a big ladder like this.  The one that we got was actually the 17′ version, but obviously an earlier version of this.  If you want to read more about it, before you buy one, you should read the Little Giant owner’s manual for the MegaMax ladder they talk all about what you can do with it and give you all of the details.  And they also have a variety of handy extras that you can add to get even more out of your ladder.  The MegaMax is available only through Costco and comes with the AirDeck that works as a little platform for tools or paint cans, and things like that.  This ladder is insanely flexible allowing you to do just about anything you could want with a ladder, including using it as saffolding.  It really is an amazing ladder and this coupon for $40.00 off, makes the deal at Costco amazing too.  After the coupon, the ladder is $159.99, which might seem a lot but this ladder is definitely worth it.

For something a little less expensive, the Contigo Mugs with Easy Clean Lid are $4.00 off, making them $15.99 for a two pack.  We bought these in 2009, mostly to take with us on hikes and camping trips.  They are great for that kind of thing because they are very lightweight, but I am sure they would be perfect for a morning commute too.  These mugs have an easy to hold shape that won’t slip out of your hand easily and isn’t awkwardly heavy at one end either.  Plus, the cool Autoseal technology that they use, means that you won’t end up with more on you than in your mouth.  You have to press the little button to sip and then it seals itself back up when you release.  This might sound a little awkward but because of the design and where the button is, it seems perfectly natural.  But really, after having them and tipping it, shaking it, throwing them in our backpacks, tossing it around, they’ve never had an accidental spill, not even a drop escaped.  The mugs are also double-wall stainless steel with vacuum-insulating to keep beverages hot for five hours and cold for up to 12 hours.  You have to hand wash the actual mug but the lid is dishwasher safe.  And if you’ve got issues with the mugs in any way, there’s a lifetime guarantee.  But we’ve had these for years now and because of the tight seal on the lid and lightweight nature of these mugs,  they are perfect for hiking and camping, and we’ve never had any type of issues or problems.

I know it is maybe a bit early for worrying about your holiday parties, however, there is an instant savings for the best looking plastic plates and cutlery that you can find.  I’ve used this before and people thought it was real!  You can get $3.50 off a 160 count box of Reflections Cutlery.  This stuff has a real cutlery look and is very sturdy.  So sturdy that you could actually use the knives to cut something aside from warm butter.  You can also get $3.50 off a 50 count pack of Masterpiece Plates; 25 dinner plates and 25 cake plates. These are also really nice looking and sturdy with a gold or silver accent stripe.  They are very nice looking and you wouldn’t need to be ashamed to have these at your holiday party.  So, if you’re planning a party for any occasion, you might want to stock up on these!  If  you want to have something that looks nice and is sturdy, but you don’t want the hassle of cleaning up afterward, this is the perfect option.

Of course, I have to mention the instant savings for Ferrero Rocher since I just wrote about Nutella (same company)!  You can save $3.50 off the big box of 48 Rochers.  I love these and get some every year around this time for Christmas because they usually have a deal at Costco that is just too good to pass up if you like hazelnut and chocolate like I do.  Also, there’s a coupon for $2.00 off a ginormous 52.5 ounce box of Oreos, which is Dave’s favourite cookie.  But maybe, you were reading the comments on my Nutella post, and were enticed by the thought of Nutella on an Oreo.  You might want to skip the sugar on top though.

This is a great time to pick up Halloween candy because there is a coupon for $4.50 off the 30 count Mars chocolate variety pack.  Yes, these are full sized candy bars or bags of Snickers, Milk Way, Twix, and M&Ms.  Unfortunately, you have a limit of two on these, but this is a great discount.  Dave and I always used this or the Nestle candy bar coupon this time of year to stock up for the neighbourhood trick or treaters when we were in the US.

I know that I am always talking about how important it is to get the carbon monoxide detectors or fire extinguishers, but really, it’s better to have them and not need them than to need them and not have them.  I think we can all agree on that.  So, if you’re not full up on all of the important safety devices, luckily for you there is a coupon for $8.00 off First Alert fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide detectors and a 2 pack of smoke detectors.  You can get your house all safe and secure and save quite a bit of money too.  What could be better than that?

I could go on and on, but those are some of my favourite items that I didn’t want anyone to overlook.  There are really some great things in this new book, so make sure to look through it well before your next Costco trip.

I love the Samsung 27-inch LED monitor. I’m the second person at my work to pick up one of these and it’s really beautiful. It doesn’t have a pivoting base so you have to set it up so the viewing angle is right for you, but it’s a great price.

I second the recommendation on Contigo. I paid $17 for one and love it. The lid has yet to fail or leak, even inverted.

As far as I’m concerned, those Season Sardines are a can’t miss. I have to bring a few friends with me as there’s a 10 can limit! I’m going to have to check the ingredients on that Crazy Cuisine Madarin Orange Chicken before buying, but generally, most of the frozen stuff @ Costco usually is devoid of the iffy ingredients. Some of ther light ice creams they stock are loaded with junk. It’s a pity that can’t stock Blue Bunny Frozen Yogurt or a few of the Breyer’s Naturals.

Does anyone know if the Softsoap that’s on sale is free of that awful lavender smell? The last time I bought it (years ago), I couldn’t prepare a salad for 5 minutes until my hands no longer passed on the lavender odor. Costco used to carry Dial, and I would request it if not for the warning on triclosan as an antibacterial ingredient.

That Kirkland Signature Four Layer Filled Red Velvet Cake looks delicious, but I’m sure the ingredient list and the calorie/fat/sugars content doesn’t. I may have to satisfy my craving for dessert with the Welch’s Fruit Snacks and the succulent corn syrup, artificial flavors and carnauba wax they throw into that healthy product.
