Terry I am surprised your husband hasn’t heard anything. But I am guessing how they do this, I would like to think that his assistants have been named and are also in the process. I would hope that we would all hear something by the end of the month. That would give us about 4 weeks to find a place and move.

As far as right now the only people I think that are hearing anything will be any managers that put in for it, they will hear first. once they get the managers set they will then start putting together the non salary staff.

Please tell me when you are bulding a new Costco in southern Illinois? I moved here from Chicago and very lost none are close.. Thx

@Dottie – The closest to southern Illinois, that I’ve heard about, is the new location opening in East Peoria in November. I don’t know how south you need, but hopefully that will be near enough to your new area.

East Peoria, Il is not close to southern Illinois. Best bet would be Costco in south Saint Louis, Mo. or others in Saint Louis area.

A few days ago a “Costco Coming Soon” sign was put up in North Brunswick, NJ on Route 1 northbound side. No sign of construction yet. This is the former Johnson & Johnson site. Hopefully someone will post a photo of the sign soon.

Hi, Most of you talk about getting transfers from one location to another or a promotion. I am a “newbie” and just trying to get into the new Costco opening in Wheaton, Maryland. I already submitted my application on-line for the Pharmacy department and the store is due to open on October 18th. Do I just wait or should I follow-up somehow. Very interested and really would like to get my foot in the door. Any suggestions

If you currently work for Costco you would send a transfer request, inner company. Also you can contact the regional for that area, Rob Lueck.

I was wondering if any know the progress on the East Peoria, Il? I hadnt heard much lately about what been happening with the site since early July. I am hoping they are progressing on the site to where they could be getting ready for the steel to go up soon. Also, if any have heard when the team going to be on site? I am going to be out there to see my family in septemeber and will try to stop by the place to see how it coming along.
Thanks for any info on it.

Matthew,
Sorry but I am not on this site very much since Costco is coming to East Peoria.
I went by Sun and saw openings for tire center up and some concrete poured for parking lot.
I went by today and brick for walls being laid in several locations.
Progress appears to be going great.
Novak Construction has built other Costcos and has alot of people working on the project.
Since land only cost 1.5 M, I think it will be showcase Costco including car wash.
Since developer Diane C. is outstanding and is wife of CAT CEO and Pres., I think it will open on time since I assume Costco executives will probably be in Peoria a day or two early to tour CAT plants and visit CAT world HQ.
CAT is to heavy equipment world wide what Costco is to retail.

For years, there has been rumor of a Costco planned for construction in Fort Collins, Colorado. I even heard it once from a costco employee that worked at the Thornton location shortly after that store opened. Years have passed, so I dissappointedly shrugged it off. Then, last year, a non-Costco employee, who claimed to be in the know told me that a Costco warehouse was scheduled to be completed in Fort Collins by 2014. Does any one know is there is any merrit to these rumors after all? I’m tired of the teasing. The other Costco warehouses in CO are clusterred around Denver and are too far for me to frequent often. I miss me some Costco. —-EX Costco addict still going through withdrawls after nine years of not having one near by.

It amazes me that Costco can put up a new building and integrate it into their supply chain inside of a 1/3 of a year. It must take so much back-end work and preparation to get it off the ground.

I am going to try to get a job at the new Costco in Farragut, Tn. when they start taking applications. Any tips from current employees on getting hired?

Mary //

Best of luck to you Larry, I have been a Costco employee for 20 years, it is a good company to work for. I have never been involved in hiring but the best advise I could give you is first appearances are lasting appearances so come in to interviews looking your best. Another thing, don’t limit your availability too much.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO GET PROMOTED AT COSTCO?? IVE BEEN A CLERK FOR ABOUT 1 YR NOW FULLTIME CASHIER BEEN WORKIN WITH THE COMPANY FOR 2 YEARS . I WANNA GET PROMOTED AS SUPERVISOR, ASAP PLEASE HELP ME COSTCO ADDICTS
37
riverwatch //
2012.07.28 at 12:26 am
Put your time in and work hard. Being a full time clerk for one year doesn’t automatically make you qualified to be a supervisor. I’m not being a jerk. I’m being honest with you. There are employees such as some on this forum that have been working for Costco for years (10 plus) and they’re still trying to become supervisors. You just have to work hard and prove yourself. Too many people get promoted before they’re ready. There are far too many immature and unprepared managers and supervisors working for Costco. I’m not trying to smash your dreams. I’m just being honest. This forum needs a little bit more of that.

J //

Riverwatch is right all the way but also let your assistant manager know you’d like to talk to them about a sup position and they’ll let you know what your doing right and what your screwing up on (stuff you need to work on). By the way 2 years with the company is way to early to become a supervisor in a busy Costco. But I’ve seen employees with only 2 years with the company bump up to departments managers so it’s not impossible.

2012.07.29 at 10:02 am
Thanks J. I just want people to know that Costco isn’t easy. They pay well because they expect you to do well. You should be ready to get promoted.Asking what you can improve is a great way to start.

To the Farragut followers; I’m in Knoxville right now went by the location early Monday morning and they had about 1/4 of the beams up over the concrete. I was back in tha area late afternoon 5ish and they were still working and had 1/2 the beams up over the concrete so hopefully by the end of the week the beam work will be finished.

When it comes to SENIORITY it does not play a factor. I have 19 years with the company. I am a good worker, I have good # as a markertor, means nothing. I tried to transfer to Sarasota, all I got back was NO Position avaliable. I am losing my home due to econoy and wife very ill one income. None of this matters. I need to move and have to move. My family is in Florida.

What’s the turnaround time once Costco begins construction on a new location? What about flipping a preexisting (e.g., an old K-Mart) building into a Costco?
