Guest Posts

I have so many great comments from people that all have their favorite things (or maybe things they really hate) about Costco, that I thought it would be nice to give them a little more space to write and share their thoughts and opinions.

If you are interested, here are some things to keep in mind about guest posts to AddictedToCostco.com:

  1. The topic can be anything Costco related: something funny you saw or heard while you were shopping, a great product or a totally lousy one, a Customer Service story (good or bad), an experience with a Costco service, anything at all about Costco.
  2. While I will be the first to admit that some of my posts can get pretty long, your post doesn’t need to be more than just a well thought out paragraph or two but it can certainly be longer if you want.
  3. I do ask that if you are writing about a product you put in plenty of details and definitely include the item number, date of purchase, and the price. Same goes for services – price, when you used the service, and the name if it was a third party contractor.
  4. If you have your own blog or website, please feel free to include a link or two to your blog.
  5. Also, when you send me your post include your name (screen name or real-life name) and your city and state, as well as how long you’ve been a Costco member.
  6. If you want to include a picture to go with your post, you’ll need to include that (or tell me a URL where I can find it) when you email me and tell me roughly where the image should go in your post.
  7. I try to write a blog that could be read by my mom or your kid, so that means I try to keep it clean.  No swear words and no porn (obviously, because you can’t buy that in bulk at Costco).  And there are other things that I won’t accept, that fit into the category of ‘I will know it when I see it’.  I’m asking for guest posts, but I am not guaranteeing to post everything that I receive.

Once you’ve gotten your guest post all written (and spell checked), send it me to at kimberly@addictedtocostco.com and I will let you know if, and when, your post will be published.  You can also send me an email if you’d like to run your idea past me, before you take the time to write a whole post.

I am looking for a Ultra firm/ Extra firm mattress, it is very hard to buy without trying out mattresses.

WOuld like to hear your suggestions on the firmness of Sealy Aldercrest Firm mattress. We liked the Sealy Ultra Firm mattress, that we tried at Sears/Macy’s however Costco does not carry the Ultra firm mattress. We liked the Simmons Beautyrest Extra Firm mattres as well, and Costco does not carry that either.

We don’t like the memory foam, cushion, plush mattresses and like the tight top mattresses. Only thing that we find in that range is the Sealy Firm Mattress on Costco. Any reviews, feedback or any other suggestions would be great. It is hard to compare mattresses as they all have different brands outside.

Why did Costco stop stocking cases of Diet Green Tea? Went to two different stores and both stopped carrying the product? No * was on the price sign so a bit confused, that drink was great!

The Costco under construction at Lawrenceville, NJ has now put up a sign saying “Costco”. Does anyone know when this location will open?

I was given a tin of Kirkland European Cookies, made with “European” Belgian chocolate. Never tasted anything so awful. They were incredibly sweet. Makes me wonder where they were made.

Again this year, Kirkland made Christmas Cake with absolute no real sugar, only 100% HFCS.

Another reason why we do not buy conglomerate made “food” at Costco.

Costco has the buying power to insist that all products sold in its stores are made with real whole ingredients, not artificial manmade ingredients.

I would have thought it would have learnt after the pink slime scandal

Where’s Costco’s BUTTER POUND CAKE (3 loaves)? I’ve been to Costco since November 2015 and the pound cake is still NOT there. Has it been discontinued?

the thing I really hate about Costco is that there isn’t one near me. Southwest Missouri and Northwest Arkansas (where a lot of people hate Walmart in the middle of Walmart country) has no Costco within a reasonable drive. Build a Costco in Springfield, MO and you’d probably have two Sam’s clubs joining all the Walmarts that were recently announced to be closing.

I see Corpus Christi is not likely. Why not? Was the property too expensive? Not enough tax break? We really need and want Costco here!!!

Thank you for your comment. I have read recently that one of the business owners in the shopping complex where it will be located is fighting a zoning ordinance that will allow Cotsco to have a gas station there. This business owner does not want the gas station.

We have noticed that not many Costco Gas stations off diesel fuel. A Costco near us in Santa Cruz, CA just added a diesel pump to their gas station. Since there seem to be more and more diesel vehicles on the road do you know if there are plans to offer diesel at more Costco stations?

Do you have any plans to open any new stores in mid- central Florida. I live in The Villages, Fl. and would love to see a Costco open within 30 miles of here.
    Thanksn You

When I go shopping and come home, my husband has questions “where did you get this or that”. My answer is always “WHERE ALL GOOD THINGS COME FROM, COSTCO”. He has begun to agree with me and don’t have to ask anymore, he knows. I’ve been a member since 1992 I believe when the Westbury, NY store opened.

We desperately need a Costco on the East side of The Big Island. We’re on the biggest of the islands, and the most spread out, population wise. Oahu, being about 1/6 of our size has multiple locations. We just have one, on the western side, in Kona. This is over 250 miles
away! Really hard to keep cold items cold, even in an ice chest, for that long. I believe it would only add to their customer base, not take away from the Kona location. We really need a location, and I hope that Craig Jelenik soon realizes that it would be profitable here.

We need a Costco near The Villages, Fl. zip code 32162. Sam’s and Wal-Mart are cashing in. I am holding a Costco card for over 20 years. We love Costco but driving to the Altamonte Springs Fl. store is over fifty miles one way. Please put two locations on your map, Leesburg, Fl, or Ocala, Fl.

If they are worried about emailed and passwords allowing hackers to re-enter, just reset everyone’s password and send them an email. I also have experience in software, and if their vendor can’t fix the problem by one I would find a new vendor. Their are many out their, I used to own a lab.
You made assumptions about me, that I did not read the notice, so there.

  22. 25 clara reaume // 2015.08.02 at 9:18 pm

Yes I can read. Since when does it take a month or more to fix computer code. think. When did you last see a site down from a hack for this long. The last one I saw went out of business. Did PNI Digital Media fire their programmers when staples bought the computer and now they have to hire new coders to fix the problem. Ask someone who understand coding than you and you will understand how stupid the online statement is.

    • 26 Kimberly // 2015.08.03 at 3:35 am

@Clara – I wasn’t rude to you but you want to be nasty. That’s fine. A hack isn’t just a coding problem, there’s a lot more going on when that happens than someone just writing buggy code. They need to figure out more things than how to fix a simple software bug. And in this case they also need to figure out which of their thousands and thousands of users were affected by the hacking and try to make sure that whatever happened can be protected against in the future so more customers aren’t put at risk. PNI doesn’t just do a photo website for Costco, but a lot of major retailers, so this is by no means a simple situation.

As someone involved in the software industry for many, many years as a developer and a usability specialist, I know quite a bit about coding and software processes. But thanks for worrying about my lack of understanding, however I assure you it was not warranted.

Costco online prints has been down 2 weeks. What kind of company works this way? Can’t someone write code and be back up in 2 weeks. When was the last time a company could not fix a problem with code in a day. They need to find a new vendor. This is a huge hassle for me. I don’t think they care about their customers.

Hi David, because there are thousands of applicants who apply daily, it is difficult for management to look up status on one applicant. As soon as they get their management team from transfers and other transfers that came to the warehouse, then they pull applications from online and stRt calling for interviews. Suggestion, if you get a call and they leave a message, catch their name who left the message and call back a.s.a.p. The positions go fast. There is no one really onsite to talk to in hiring. If they are, they will tell you what I just told you. I have been with costco 24 years and opened 5 warehouses. Hang in there and get you application in online. Costco will only work around school hours and military. Hope this helps you.

  25. 30 David // 2015.07.28 at 10:33 pm

When does Costco Start the hiring process for new stores/Grand openings? Also is their a way to get ahold of the management team for that store if they are just now starting to lay the foundation for the building to ask them about your application.

    Thanks,
