Costco Coupon Book - May 15 - June 1, 2008 There are a ton of great deals in the upcoming coupon book from Costco…$1,300 in savings, plus $3,200 in savings at Costco.com. I’ve detailed a bunch of stuff below that I really like but there are other great things in the coupon book that I didn’t even have a chance to mention. But don’t take your time making it to Costco because you’ve only got the next couple of weeks to use these.

Household Items:

Kirkland Signature Trash Bags – These are the great big 33 gallon size, so no little kitchen trashcans for these. I love to keep these on hand in my garage for when we are pitching a lot of stuff. Or sometimes, we need to double bag our household garbage because of our little friends with claws in our neighborhood. Plus, what is really nice about these is that they are super-durable! No matter what kind of pokey or pointy things you throw in there it seems to be able to handle it. $2.75 off 90, 33 gallon size.

Clorox Disinfecting Wipes – I think I’ve said this before probably, but I am a huge fan of these little wipes. You can grab them for a quick clean up in the kitchen or bathroom without needing to get out all of your cleaning supplies. Plus, they have a fresh lemony, orangey, or piney scent….it’s nice to have a different scent for different rooms. Lots of cleaning potential and uses around the house, inside and out. $2.50 off 4 containers of 78 wipes (Limit of 5 per coupon).

Scotch Brite Heavy Duty or Multi-Purpose No Scratch Sponges – We have a big pack of the multi-purpose sponges in our kitchen right now (probably from the last time they had a coupon at Costco). We certainly use them in our kitchen but I also like to use them on outdoor cleaning too because of the little scrubby side…it’s great for getting of hard to budge dirt on your patio furniture or grill. They’re also good on your car if you remember not to use the scratchy side on the paint! 🙂 $2.57 off 18 pack or 15 pack (Limit of 5 per coupon).

Ziploc Easy Zipper or Freezer Quart Bags – I’m positive that I’ve said this before but you can never have too many Ziploc bags. I’m not over the moon for the easy zipper bags but I do love the freezer quart bags. They are great for the kitchen because they are a little thicker than the smaller sandwich bags, so they can handle bigger items as well as things that might go through the sandwich bag. And of course with the airline security situation…need I say more? $2.00 off (Limit of 5 per coupon).

Cascade Dishwasher Detergent – This coupon is good on the Advanced Power 2 in 1 Action Pacs, the Power Gel, or the Power Powder. The little tablet-type things are really great because they are so convenient and it is really easy to tell when you need more. Of course, as I was discussing with my mom this week, dish detergent is great for other cleaning projects too. Like the big piece of glass on my patio table (shining and streak free at the moment) or my garage floor which is now free of grease spots and dirt. $2.50 off 90 Action Pacs, or $1.50 off 125 ounces of Powder or Gel (Limit of 3 per coupon).

Clorox 2 Bleach for Colors – I love this and use it in every load of laundry I do. I’m not going to keep raving about it because I’ve done so a few times before, so read this post for how much I love it. $2.50 off 170.5 ounces (Limit of 5 per coupon).

American Red Cross First Aid Only Emergency Kit – This seems a no brainer but everyone should have one of these in their car. You never know when you’re going to need a bandage or even just tweezers. These are also great for car camping. Since you can also get this at Costco.com, you can read all about the ton of stuff that you get in this kit. I have the bigger brother to this one for my house and it is amazing and even has instructions on how to treat different things. I’m thinking of getting one to keep in my car too. $5.00 off.

Alco Cherry Finish Solid Wood Hangers – These are an unbelievable buy and they have no limit on how many boxes of these you can get with this coupon. There are 50 very nice hangers in each box. I’ve replaced all of the other hangers in my house with these. You can read about these in one of my previous blog posts. Also, you can donate all of your old plastic hangers to the Goodwill or Salvation Army, and the dry cleaners will take back your wire hangers. $4.00 off 50 hangers.

Food:

Pacific Gold or Oberto Beef or Turkey Jerky – Yes, we buy this and yes, we love beef jerky. It’s really great for camping or hiking trips (which is mainly when we consume it). But it can also be a great, quick, low fuss snack when you need a little bit of protein. $4.00 off.

Izze Sparkling Juice – I’ve never had this but Dave and I were recently thinking of trying it to see what it is like. It’s mostly fruit juice and is free off caffeine, preservatives, or artificial colorings. In the box at Costco, you get three different flavors: clementine, pomegranate, and blackberry. Since I’m not a soda drinker, I thought these might be a nice, refreshing drink for the hot summer weather. If you’ve had these, let me know what you thought of them. $4.00 off 12, 12 ounce bottles.

Gatorade G2 or Tiger Variety Packs – I’ve never had the souped up, flashy Gatorade versions but I am a fan of the regular stuff, especially when it’s hot and/or humid weather. These are a great way to replenish your electrolytes and rehydrate after you’ve been out working or playing in the summer heat. $3.00 24, 20 ounce G2 or 24, 16.9 ounce Tiger (Limit of 2 per coupon).

Bottled Water – I’m guessing this is good on whatever the brand of bottled water is that is in your local Costco but just in case here’s the list: Arrowhead, Ozarka, Zephyrhills, Poland Spring, Deer Park, Ice Mountain. (Zephyrhills, really??? Picture it the image in your head and I know you’ll laugh.) Whatever the maker it’s going to come with the sport top and be a big bottle of water (23.7 ounces). I like something like these when we’re going car camping because you can dump them in the cooler and have plenty of fresh, clean water for everyone (and then recycle the bottles). $1.50 off 28, 23.7 ounce bottles (Limit of 3 per coupon).

Ball Park Beef Franks – Speaking of camping….who doesn’t love a hot dog over a smokey fire when they’re out camping? This will keep you in dogs all weekend long! Of course, they’re also good on the grill at home or even just in the microwave for a quick lunch. The Ball Park folks do make a nice hot dog and they plump when you cook ’em (is anyone else old enough to remember when that was the slogan in their commercials?). $2.00 off the 4 pound size or $2.50 off the 5.25 size.

Health & Beauty:

Banana Boat Sunscreen – See, Costco is looking out for your skin’s health and safety. This coupon is good for the SPF 50 for Kids or the SPF 30 Sport sunscreen. Either way, sunscreen is our friend. Take it from a pale girl, it’s not fun to be lobster red and cranky all vacation! I do like the Banana Boat products but I’ve got to give you just a little warning on this one, it looks like these are 2 cans of the spray on sunscreens and just a little tube of the lotion kind. I’m not a huge fan of the spray on stuff. It’s very hard to be sure that you have an even coat and absolutely can not be reapplied outdoors if there is even the slightest breeze. Dave and I tried the spray on stuff last time we were in Hawaii, he ended up with a burn on his stomach and me on my back from places we had missed with the spray. $3.00 off (Limit of 2 per coupon).

Pond’s Clean Sweep Toweletttes – I like to keep these on hand for cleansing my face before bedtime but they are also great for when you are traveling (one less liquid to get you frisked at the airport). It’s a really easy and quick way to clean up without the need for getting out your facial cleansers, plus they really do a great job on getting your make up off. They leave your skin feeling nice too, maybe because using the cloth is like a little bit of exfoliation? $4.00 off 135 towelettes.

Oral-B CrossAction Toothbrushes – I love these, they are the best toothbrush ever. Didn’t I just write about these? Why yes, yes, I did. So, now I’m a little annoyed that I bought these just a couple of weeks ago before I had my coupon book. In any case, they do rock and you can read more about my opinion in my very recent post. $4.00 off 6 toothbrushes (almost 30% off what I just paid).

Acuvue Contact Lenses – You don’t want to forget this one if you’re looking to fill up on contacts for the year. This coupon is good for any 4 boxes of Acuvue Oasys or Advance for Astigmatism or 6 boxes of the 1-Day Moist lenses. I just bought some of the Oasys lenses a few weeks ago and they were $25.88 per box, so the $10 off is not a huge amount off but any little bit helps, right? $10 off.

There are tons of deals on computers, printers, and televisions. I’m not going to detail them all but they average around $100 off. There are also a couple of coupons for digital cameras, just in time for vacation and graduation season!

By the way, I’ve started to keep track of the Costco Coupon Books on a public Google calendar (thanks Justin for the suggestion) so that we can all try to figure out a pattern for when they come out. Plus, it links back to my blog post about that particular coupon book (or at least that is the plan). I’m going to try to get all of the previous ones that I’ve blogged about entered too (eventually). For now, you can find the coupon calendar here.

Just a reminder or a head’s up on using the Clorox Wipes in the kitchen. Note that any surface where you might possibly place pr prep food needs to be rinsed with clear water after using a Clorox wipe on the area.

This is as per the label directions, but it’s scary how many people I’ve met who don’t know that. They just wipe and go with convenience in mind, , unaware that they are chemically contaminating their food by failing to rinse.
