Costco’s Customer Service is the Best

We had a Costco experience this weekend that really reinforced my love of Costco, I’ve got to say.

A couple of weeks ago we purchased a freezer from Costco for $199.99.  The price was fair and the best deal in town that we could find for a new freezer.  So, we were happy to pay the price.  However, this weekend when we were in Costco what did we see but the freezer that we had just purchased marked down to $99.99!  At first I was sure it must be a mistake and then I got a little irritated that it was now half price.  So, we finished our shopping and after checking out we had a chat with the store manager about the change in price.  He said that the price was indeed now marked at $99.99.  The change was due to the fact that the North Austin store was not going to carry the larger appliances (freezers, washers & dryers, refrigerators) so they were reduced.  (Just a note:  the South Austin store will continue to sell appliances)  He then made us very happy by telling us that if we just take the receipt for the freezer to the Returns desk that they would be happy to refund us the difference in price.  And they were happy to do it!  We came back with the receipt and within 10 minutes, and no bitching or dirty looks, had received a refund of $108 (difference in price plus tax).

This is why people love, love, love Costco!

    I think they’ve already sold out of all the appliances in the North Austin store. Discounting them by 50% will do that. 🙂

    Love your site! I believe in my state, by law, the store has to refund the amount if the item goes on sale within 30 days. Also, the site priceprotectr dot com is a great tool to track for you. Just saved me some money on a camera.
