Costco Coupon Book – September 2008

September 10th, 2008 · 9 Comments

Alright, I’ve finally gotten my latest Costco Coupon Book Costco Coupon Book - September 11 - 28, 2008and now I can share all my thoughts about the savings inside.  Across the 90 coupons, there’s over $900 in savings, with an additional $3,200 in savings at!  That’s some serious savings going on!  So, this coupon book is good from September 11 – September 28; which leaves you with just a couple of weeks to get to your local warehouse and save save save!

Food & Beverages:  There are 19 coupons for food or drink items with a nice variety, everything from Monster Energy Drink (what the hell is that?) to Van’s Homestyle Belgian Waffles.

  • Nestle Singles Variety Pack – This is a great coupon for Halloween time.  You can get two boxes of full sized candy bars for just over the price of one box.  So, you can get 60 candy bars for just $13.94.  The only problem is that you have to wait at least a month for the trick or treaters to relieve you of your candy stash.  I do kind of wish that you could get at least 3 boxes with the coupon though. $5.00 off 30 full sized candy bars; 2 item limit.
  • Sun Chips Variety Mix – These aren’t big bags, they’re the little single serving sized ones.  There are 24 little bags in the box and 4 different flavors:  original, harvest cheddar, garden salsa, french onion.  I really like the Sun Chips; they’ve got a little more of a punch of flavor than most chips.  Plus, I think they’re a little healthier (at least that is the fib that I tell myself).  They do have 18 grams of whole grains and 30% less fat than regular potato chips, not to mention they have no trans fats.  Sounds like a healthy snack to me.  $2.00 off a 24 bag variety pack; no item limit.
  • San Pellegrino Sparkling Natural Mineral Water – I know it isn’t environmentally friendly to get bottled water anymore.  But at least these are in glass bottles that can be recycled.  Plus, it’s sparkling mineral water which you are definitely not getting out of your tap at home.  So, now that I feel like I’ve justified buying these, I will admit that I do get this from Costco now and again.  It is especially nice when we’re having someone over for dinner.  And, this is awesome mixed with Langers Mango Nectar (also at Costco); about a 50-50 mix gives you a nice mango spritzer type of drink.  $3.00 off 12, 750 mL bottles; 4 item limit.
  • Nestle Toll House Cookie Dough – I’ve never bought this but I’m thinking I might try it this time.  It would be nice to have some dough around when you just want a couple of cookies that are fresh baked without the hassle of actually making a big bunch of dough.  You can get a 5 pound tub of chocolate chip or a 3 pound oatmeal cranberry.  I don’t know about you all, but the oatmeal cranberry does not sound good to me.  $2.00 off 5 or 3 pound tub; 2 item limit.

Household Items:  It’s the perfect time to stock up on all the cleaning and household supplies you need for the upcoming holiday season.  Of course there are coupons for the staple paper products (toilet paper and paper towels), plus savings on lots of cleaning supplies and kitchen items.

  • Swiffer Sweepers – There’s a big variety of different Swiffer products that you can get with this coupon – the starter kit, wet and dry refill sweepers, and dusters.  I love my Swiffer stuff; it is awesome at picking up dust and not just tossing it around your room.  I like the duster in particular because it has a little handle that helps you get places that are difficult with just a dust cloth.  I also like the Swiffer sweepers that are wet because you can easily touch up your hard surface floors with out the mess.  $2.50 off several different types; 4 item limit.
  • Scotch-Brite Sponges – Everyone loves a nice sponge because you can use them for a ton of different cleaning jobs around the house.  Sponges, they’re not just for the kitchen anymore!  You can get either the heavy duty or the multi-purpose no scratch sponges.  We have some of each in our house.  We use the heavy duty sponges for things in the garage and outside, and sometimes in the bathroom for hard tile cleaning.  The no scratch sponges are great for everything in the kitchen, cleaning windows and sinks and vanities in the bathroom.  $2.75 off 18 sponges; 4 item limit.
  • Kirkland Signature Laundry Detergent – I’m only mentioning this because  you can also use this coupon to get the new Environmentally Friendly laundry detergent too.  I did notice that they finally had this in our local Costco last week, and it was only $12.79.  So, you can use this $2 off coupon to get it for about the same price as the regular detergent.  This coupon is also good on the Ultra or Free and Clear detergent too.  $2.00 off 170 ounces; 1 item limit.

Health & Beauty:  Lots of soap, shampoo, dental care, and vitamins this time around.   There aren’t really any standout items in this category for me, however, there are some really good bargains on just regular items that you need to keep yourself clean and polished.

  • Gillette 3X Clear Gel Deodorant – This is the only thing I’m going to call out specifically in this category.  Dave tried this and absolutely hated it.  It was gross and sticky and really unpleasant.  Plus, it stayed wet for too long he said.  And who wants that kind of thing in your deodorant?  $2.50 off 5, 3 ounce containers.

Electronics:  There are a bunch of computer deals in this coupon book; four in all.  Ranging from $100.00 – $300.00 off on laptops and even a desktop too.  There are also a couple of deals on printers as well.  So, it isn’t too late to get that back to school computer deal.

  • Logitech Harmony 620 Universal Remote – This is kind of like the deodorant, I mentioned above,  we were not impressed.  We tried one of these for our media room setup and it was really unpleasant.  It’s got the peanut shape like the TiVo remote, but that’s really where the good stuff begins and ends.  The buttons seemed to not be where we wanted them and we had a problem with it losing our settings.  We ended up taking it back and getting a different one that was way easier to use (check out Dave’s blog for more info on our fun with electronics). $50.00 off; 1 item limit.
  • Sony CD-R – If you’re in need of some CD-Rs you can not beat this deal!  It’s a Buy One, Get One Free coupon!  You’ll be flush with CDs for a long, long time.  Buy One, Get One Free, 100, 700 MB CD-Rs; 1 item limit.

As you can see there are some really great things that I like in this Costco Coupon Book, and a couple of things that aren’t so great.  I only mentioned a few of the 90 coupons, so you’ll have to make your own calls on the rest of the stuff.  But get out there and get your deals soon because these coupons are only good September 11 – 28.

I’ve heard that there’s a new coupon book that will be starting November 17 and going through sometime in December. I haven’t gotten mine yet but when I do I’ll certainly be posting about it. They usually have some good coupons for holiday type items.

Diane, glad you’re enjoying my wealth of Costco shopping. 🙂
I think that if you go to the Costco membership desk and ask them for a coupon book and explain the situation, they’ll give one to you. You might also be able to get them to mail stuff to you at your local address in the US, as well. Hope that it works out for you!

Ruth, I know that you can get 8 really nice, big slices out of the pumpkin pie. I think 10 would be reasonable but 12 slices might be pushing it for hungry football player types. If you’re looking for a good sweet item for a large group I think the sheet cakes might be a better way to go. Lots of servings and they are super yummy.

Your comment on the pumpkin pie caught my eye. Do you know how many people a typical large Costco pie will feed? I’ve got 40 football players coming to my house for dinner. Thanks!

I love your blog so much. That really give me a great idea about what to shop at Costco.

I have a questions about the coupon book.
As I am an internation student and I got my Costco member ship card in my own country. Is that any chance I can have one coupon book here?

Thank you in advance for your response.
