Costco Emergency Survival Kit

Costco Emergency Survival Kit

I’ve had a few friends ask me about this Emergency Supply Kit from Costco, or tell me that I should write a post about it.  However, I’ll be honest, I didn’t really want to pay $70 for something like this that I wasn’t even sure I wanted just so that I could write about it on my blog.

Basically, this kit is a pretty nice little package of things that can be used in case of an emergency to supply food for 2 people for 6 days, as well as containing some other items that would be necessary in an emergency situation.  The thing that I liked most is that it also comes with a water filtration system, so you won’t die of thirst and actually do have something to rehydrate those little meals with.  Here’s the list of supplies that you get in the bucket:

  • 6 Days Food for 2 Adults + Fruit & Vegetable Supplements
  • Water Filtration System (100 Gallon Capacity)
  • Crank Flashlight / Radio
  • Survival Tool
  • Cooking Supplies / Stove / Fuel
  • First Aid Supplies
  • Survival Supplies
  • Emergency Blankets
  • Sealed in a convenient Weather-Proof Bucket for easy transport
  • For best taste and nutritional value, use product before: 20 years of manufacturing date when stored at 60° F (16.6° C); 10 years of manufacturing date when stored at 70° F (21.1° C)

Right now at Costco.com you can get the kit for $49.00 (original price of $69.99 is discounted by $20.99), and that does include shipping and handling.

So, while this is all great information, you’re probably wondering where the actual review portion is, huh?  Well, I still haven’t purchased the kit, but there is an absolutely awesome review on the Utah Preppers blog.  This review is everything you could ever want to know about what is in this bucket and the things you should add to make it more complete (trash bags and toilet paper, for starters), and more.  There are also pictures of all of the items and tons of details.  As the reviewer says, it is a great kit for the money and has some useful essential items.  If you’re thinking about getting one of these kits (or giving one as a gift for the holidays), you should definitely check out this great review.

    hi,

luv the blog…you should email Costco and tell them about your blog and give them stats on hits and readership numbers, and maybe they would be willing to give you giftcards to help offset more expensive items that you might not otherwise be willing to try…its worth a try…
