Coupon Book for May 11 - May 31st

Coupon Book for May 11 - May 31, 2009

This coupon book seems to have a nice mix of coupons, and certainly more electronics coupons than the last couple of books.  There are 100 coupons that can save you more than $1700.00 in the warehouses and an additional $2500.00 for things at Costco.com.  And wouldn’t you know it, when I could use a coupon on Accuve contacts, they’re not having one.  There are plenty of great coupons to entice you into doing some shopping though.

The coupon books go into effect on Monday, May 11th and are valid through Sunday, May 31st.  So, you’ve got three weeks to peruse the coupons and save some money.

Food & Beverages: There are 20 food and beverage coupons.  With two coupons for some really great items; including my favorite bakery item (I think) the KS cupcakes.  There seem to be a lot of beverage coupons this time; 8 coupons, almost 1/2 of the category.

  • Island Way Sorbet Variety Pack Fruit Sorbet in Natural Fruit Shells, 12 count: $3.25 off; limit 3. These are great tasting and kind of fun too because they are served in the fruit shells.  They definitely make a great, and quick, dessert for a dinner party.   I’ve gotten these a couple of times now and will probably be taking advantage of this coupon.  Last time I purchased them, in Kansas, the box was $12.99 for the 12 sorbets.  You can read more in this post.
  • Kirkland Signature White & Chocolate Cupcakes, 20 count: $5.00 off; limit 1.  These are awesome!  I’m trying to think about how much room I can make in my freezer by the end of the month so that I can purchase these.  They come out of the freezer and taste just as good as when they were fresh.  I’m not kidding, if you haven’t tried these, you need to find an excuse to buy them with this coupon.  The last time I wrote about them (a year ago now) they were $15.99, so you can see they’re a total bargain for $5.00 off.
  • Ceres Nectars; Mango; 2, 96 ounce bottles: $2.50 off; limit 2.  They have stopped carrying my favorite Langer’s Mango Nectar.  So, I guess I’ll have to give this a try to see how it stacks up.  I hope it is as thick and yummy.
  • Corazonas Squeeze of Lime Tortilla Chips, 15 ounce: Buy one, get one free; limit 4.
  • Snack Factory Deli Style Pretzel Crisps: $2.00 off; limit 1.

  • Marinated Onion & Garlic Pork Loin: $4.00 off; limit 1.
  • Kirkland Signature Rotisserie Chicken Greek Pasta Salad with Dressing: $2.00 off; limit 1; not available in all locations.

Household Items: There are 18 coupons for various household items; cleaning supplies and  kitchen items mostly.  Of course, there is the coupon for tires that everyone seems to love.  You can get some new tires before you head off on a vacation road trip.

  • Clorox 2 2x Ultra Stain Fighter & Color Booster; 82 loads; $3.00 off; limit 5.  I’m pretty sure that I write about this every time it is in the coupon book.  I use this in all of my laundry and really do think that it keeps my whites whiter and my colors bright.  It’s also excellent at getting out difficult stains and can be used in places where regular chlorine bleaches would just ruin the garment.
  • Cascade Action Pacs; 90 count: $3.00 off; OR Cascade Complete, 85 count: $3.50 off; limit 1.

  • Magic Bullet Deluxe 22 Piece Blender/Mixer System with Travel Bag: $10.00 off; limit 3.

Health & Beauty: There are 21 coupons that fit into this category in this month’s Costco Coupon book.  There are some great deals on things you’ll need for summer, like sun screen and insect repellent.

  • Kirkland Signature by Borghese Advanced Age-Defying Wrinkle Defense Serum OR Protective Moisture Lotion: $5.00 off; limit 2.  I wrote about this a few weeks ago and I am still really liking the moisturizer with sunscreen.  It goes on thick but quickly absorbs and you don’t even notice that you have it on.  And I really do think my skin has been looking just as nice, maybe nicer, than when I used Lancome.  It was $14.99 when I bought it in March, so it’s a steal with $5.00 off.

Electronics: There are 21 electronics coupons this month with some really good deals.  This seems to be the time to buy an HP notebook computer if you’ve been in the market; there are 3 coupons for notebooks and 1 for a desktop system.  I guess this is so you can buy your graduates a nice computer and printer (also a couple of good deals) before they go off to college in the fall.

  • Samsung CF33 Flash Memory Camcorder, includes case, 8GB built-in memory for 4 hours recording time in ‘fine’ mode, 34X optical zoom: $30.00 off for a final price of $199.99; limit 1.  I have no experience with this particular camcorder, I just wanted to point out the amazingly low price of $199.99 for a camcorder!  I can’t believe how inexpensive these are now.  I mean, this is like regular digital camera pricing.  I might even get one, but we’ve decided that our next camcorder will be HD, and right now those are still a little more than I want to spend.

Hi, I know this is a way old post, but I was wondering if you know costco’s price for cascade action pacs? I’m trying to compare it w/a sale at Albertsons. Thanks!

    • 4 Kimberly // 2010.03.05 at 2:44 am

Unfortunately, I don’t know that price. I just remember that the container at Costco is quite good sized and was maybe around $10 – $12. I’m totally sketchy on it, and wouldn’t trust my memory though. 🙂

As anybody received a coupon book for June 2009 yet?

  5. 6 karmickreator // 2009.05.28 at 5:39 pm

Stamps are cheaper than at the post office (we sell them at a loss, its member service… besides eveything else out there makes up the difference. they should currently be $43.75/100 forever stamps. A bit of a savings but even more when the price goes up… like a few weeks ago.

Now, for the coupon books- go to the Membership desk and ask them to update your “PMO”. its a subscreen in your membership file that SHOULD HELP you get the coupon books. Make sure they have your current address as well. Please realize though, that the books aka MVM (multi vendor mailings) are also available at the membership desk, and if they are out they should have a master copy for you to look at… then you just need to remember to ask your cashier to honor them when you check out.

As for certain products not in your warehouse anymore… We regularly rotate and find new items. this means certain items will leave for a while and may or may not ever come back. There should be a comment box for you to drop a line in and give us feedback regarding products.

    Hope this helps…

Penny, Costco will not accept a photocopy of the coupons. But you should try asking your Customer Service desk for a book since they usually keep extras for such cases.

  7. 8 Penny // 2009.05.21 at 8:18 am

I think my husband threw out this month coupon book. Can I print the coupons on line or will the store honor them even if you do not have it with you?

  8. 9 Erika // 2009.05.19 at 10:20 am

Does anyone know if the Sea Cuisine Tortilla Crusted Tilapia will be making a comeback? I live in Texas and our Costco has stopped carrying it!! 🙁

    • 10 Kimberly // 2009.05.20 at 7:12 am

Oh man, I can’t believe your Costco stopped carrying that because it is awesome. I know I saw some at our Costco within the last couple of weeks, here in Austin. Maybe it’s just a temporary thing.

  9. 11 Ryan // 2009.05.18 at 3:37 pm

Usually coupon books are sent out 2-3 weeks before the coupons start. Having signed up about a month ago, the coupons were probably shipping out to households right around the time you signed up. The Membership desk always has a bunch of spare coupon books in case people didn’t receive one or left it at home; but they go fast! You should be getting the next coupon book. If not stop off at the Membership desk and have them check your address to make sure it’s correct!

  10. 12 Tim // 2009.05.18 at 3:33 am

I signed up for Costco a month ago, partly because of the deals that come in these coupon books. However, I have yet to receive a coupon book. Do you have to sign up for them somewhere or what?

    • 13 Kimberly // 2009.05.20 at 7:16 am

I’m going to have to agree with Ryan here, you probably just missed the last coupon book mailing. They do say that it can take up to two weeks to start receiving these when you sign up for a new membership. However, you should swing by the Customer Service desk to ask for a coupon book and while you are there you should also just make sure that your membership is in order to actually receive the coupon mailings. You definitely don’t want to miss out on those!

Does anybody know who is the manufacture of the Bond BBQ that is in the coupon book. I tried looking them up on the web and also emailed costco the question but havent heard back. I just havent heard of the name brand before and just wondering if its anygood………..

    • 15 Kimberly // 2009.05.20 at 7:25 am

The Bond grills actually come from a group formed between Bond Manufacturing and Lucas BBQ Company. That’s as much as I could find online. I don’t know anything about either company though.

Alyssa, I didn’t think that Costco sold stamps at a discount. However, it has been years and years since I have bought stamps at Costco. Maybe Cynthia or someone has more information about getting stamps at Costco though.

Brree, I froze my cupcakes initially in the big box, all together. And then after they were frozen I put them in smaller baggies to store long term, individually. I did make sure when I initially froze them in the box to separate them a bit (this was easy because we took some out to eat when they were fresh) so that the frosting wouldn’t freeze together. It’s amazing how well they freeze & thaw.

  16. 20 brree // 2009.05.13 at 12:06 am

How do your freeze the cupcakes? Individually or do you put the whole box in? Me and my husband went to costco tonight and I so wanted a cupcake but couldnt justify buying 20 because neither one of us needs to be eating that many cupcakes. We have a stand alone freezer so I have plenty of room so I may just go buy some now.

I CAN’T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT COSTCO’S EXCELENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. RECENTLY I PURCHASED SEVERAL HOUSEHOLD ITEMS THAT I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW WERE ON COUPON, BUT THE COUPON DISCOUNT WAS ON THE RECEIPT. THEY ARE NOT A “HARD CORE MUST HAVE COUPON” BUSINESS. I PURCHASED THE ENERGY SUB WOOFER SAT. MAY 09, 2009 AND WAS TOLD BY TWO COSTCO WORKERS THAT THEY THOUGHT THE SUB WAS GOING SALE IN THE MAY 11 th COUPON BOOK AND IF SO JUST BRING MY RECEIPT IN ON MAY 11TH AND THEY WOULD REFUND THE $50.00 SAVINGS AS PER THE COUPON. THE 90 DAY RETURN POLICY ON ELECTRONICS WITHOUT A RESTOCKING FEE IS ANOTHER PLUS. BEING PRUDENT ON YOUR COSTCO PURCHASES WILL HELP YOUR BOTTOM LINE IN THESE TRYING TIMES.

  18. 22 Alyssa // 2009.05.11 at 2:45 pm

Hi, Just found your site! I love it! We’re going to Costco this week and I like to plan ahead. Knowing what coupons they put out this week is a big help. We have to drive about an hour to get there, so I can’t just run and pick up a coupon booklet and then plan. (I think hubby accidently threw out our coupon book before I saw it).
Anyway, I just heard from someone else that Costco sells postage stamps. Yes, too late the price already went up and I bought forever stamps last week. I heard they regularly sell stamps cheaper than the post office though. Is this true? If so, what’s the price of the (now) $.44 stamp? (I’m new to Costco buy love it)

  19. 23 Brenda // 2009.05.08 at 11:56 pm

I am new to your blog. Have you used the movie transfer offered in the Photo department? (you drop off your super 8’s and they transfer them on to a DVD)

    • 24 Kimberly // 2009.05.09 at 6:42 am

I haven’t used that service but that’s great that you can transfer your old movies. And I don’t think I know anyone that has either. But maybe another reader has & will post some info about it. Are you just curious about the quality and whether it’s a value or not?
