Costco Travel Deals & New Luxury Villa Rentals

September 18th, 2010 · 2 Comments

With summer over now, it’s the perfect time to start thinking about your next vacation.  And where better to start than Costco Travel?  They have tons of great deals on full vacations or cruises for lots of warm and exotic destinations.  But they’ve also got deals for all Costco members on rental cars and hotels.  So, I like to check there when I decide where I’m going to see what kind of discounts I can get using my Costco membership.  However, I’m really excited about the potential of the newest addition to the Costco Travel selection: BeautifulPlaces Luxury Villa Rentals. I like a nice pampered vacation experience every now and again, and this sounds like the perfect way to get that type of vacation.

Renting a luxury villa is the ultimate way to pamper yourself and your family for your next vacation.  If you’re not familiar with the concept, it’s basically renting a very high end home where you far more privacy and a wider set of amenities than you would find at a regular hotel.  And if you want to dress up your villa experience even more, you can take advantage of the wealth of Concierge Services offered by BeautifulPlaces.  You can even go so far as to ship them your luggage and they will unpack it and have it all there waiting for you when you arrive; that’s my idea of a dream vacation.

BeautifulPlaces started out specializing in California’s wine country, however, they’ve since added a handful of international locations in Italy, France, Mexico, and the Bahamas.  You can view all of the villas across all locations on their website and check out the unique experiences you could have at each one.  Each property listing has several pictures and lots of details about the features that you can expect.  There’s also full information about the rates and how much savings you can get when booking through Costco Travel.  The villas range in sizes and features, so if you’ve got a need for a specific number of bedrooms or something you can use the Villa Search to find all of the properties that fit your needs.

You’re probably wondering about the big detail of cost, and they do list all of that on the website as well.  I find that really nice, because I hate places that require you to call someone to get prices for things like this.  So, here’s an example of the pricing and Costco Travel deal for one of the villas on Italy’s Amalfi Coast:  “Share the experience with friends and family for just $143 per person per night based on four people sharing the home for seven nights. Seven nights from $4,004 After $393 Member Savings!”   That does include maid service too.  🙂

It certainly is not in any way a money saving vacation, but it is a wonderful vacation experience if you’re looking for something really special.  If this seems like a good fit for your next vacation, you can get all of the information on the Costco Travel website.

Dominican Republic Deal

The current deal that I really want to point out today, is also featured in the latest Coupon Book: it’s for the Dominican Republic.  The Dominican Republic is a Caribbean island that offers beautiful beaches and wonderful diving and snorkeling, as well as whale watching, kitesurfing and windsurfing; plenty of water activities.  There’s also some historic sites that you can explore as well, such as beautiful Santo Domingo, the capital city.  There’s also Reserva Antropológica El Pomier, a series of caves outside of Santo Domingo with a collection of ancient Taíno cave paintings.  And if you’re more into hiking, you can hike up Pico Duarte, the highest peak in the Caribbean, perhaps in time to catch the sunrise.

Currently, Costco Travel has a tremendous deal right now for an all-inclusive resort stay at the Majestic Colonial Punta Cana.  If you go before October 31, you can get four nights for as low as $323, including a room upgrade and a $100 tour credit, after that the price ticks up slightly to $369.  However, no matter when you are planning to go, to take advantage of the deal you need to book by October 5.

A villa vacation is a whole different travel experience and one I would recommend – ideal if you are traveling with grown children as we did. Since we are spread out all over the U.S. it gave us a lot of casual together time — just hanging out, watching a ball game, or running off to the markets. If we were all in hotel rooms we would have missed that. Mealtime was the best — cooking was fun not a chore as everyone pitched in….and we saved $$$ but not eating every meal out.
