What are your holiday travel plans?

Does it seem to early to be thinking about what my Christmastime travel plans should be?  We’re not huge on celebrating Christmas but it’s a great excuse for us to take a nice trip since Dave has several days off at work.  Last year we spent a few wonderful days in Prague which was dressed up like a winter wonderland with beautiful snowfall, decorations, lights and a charming Christmas market.  We’re thinking of doing something similar again but are thinking maybe Berlin or Budapest this year.  While I might not be all about Christmas, I really like the snow.  I think that has to do with living in Tucson and Austin for well over a decade where we really never saw a true snowfall.  Last year we did see some snow here in London, but it quickly gave way to slushy streets and muddy grass and bare trees in the park.  And really, that’s just more depressing than festive.

While I think snow and cold for December holidays, I know most people just want to escape to some tropical paradise where they can lounge in the sun.  And apparently, Costco Travel is more in tune with you sun worshippers than with me and my frigid dreams of snow.  Recently, Costco Travel has added a special section to their website where you can get a nice variety of holiday travel deals.  There are currently seven different destinations listed, all of them sunny and warm, with palm trees and oceans nearby.  I was a bit surprised that they didn’t have even one or two ski type destinations on the deals list.  So, where can Costco Travel take you for the holidays?
