Costco Australia CLOSED Thursday, April 25, 2013, for ANZAC Day

April 23rd, 2013 · No Comments

If you are in Australia, don’t expect to be able to do your shopping at your local Costco this Thursday, because all Costco Australia locations are CLOSED for ANZAC Day (April 25, 2013).  However, Costco Australia will be back to normal operating hours on Friday.

For those of you that are curious, ANZAC Day is a national day of remembrance for members of the Australian or New Zealand Army Corp (that’s what the acronym stands for: Australian and New Zealand Army Corp).  Originally, this was a way to specifically commemorate the loss of life for those Australian and New Zealand troops that fought at Gallipoli (Turkey) during World War I.  However, after World War II the day has been broadened as a commemoration to all troops that have served and died in service to Australia and New Zealand.  For more information about ANZAC Day, you can read the Wikipedia page on the topic.
