The last time we were at Costco we came out of the store to notice something quite surprising and strange on the Costco forecourt.  It took us by surprise, as well as almost everyone else walking in or out at that time, it sort of stopped me in my tracks, if I’m honest.  There was a shiny new 2014 Maserati Ghibli parked there, looking a bit out of its element, but beautiful all the same.  Apparently, this is something you can get through the Costco Auto UK programme.

I’ve written about lots of over the top and super pricey things that Costco has had over the years like a $70,000 diamond ring or a £90,000 F1 Racing Simulator, but somehow those didn’t seem as odd to me as this car.  It’s not even as expensive as the F1 simulator, which was totally ridiculous.  And at least you are getting an actual car, not just a stationery race car.  Though, yes, of course, I still think it would be so much fun to play around on the F1 simulator!

But I digress.  Using your Costco membership you can save around £3,456.00 off the RRP of a new Maserati at a dealer near you.  Your new ride comes with more than £5,000 of factory options and looks gorgeous, even in the rain, even in Costco’s parking lot.  The list price is £69,130.00, however, with your discount for going through the Costco Auto Programme, you pay just £65,673.00.  Bargain!  For those of you that aren’t sure, different vehicles have different options and different prices, and thus your discount using the Costco Auto programme will be slightly different.

I don’t know how they sell vehicles here in the UK, if it is standard to haggle or just pay the list price.  If there’s a bit of haggling (as I suspect, like there is in the US), then I’m not sure this discount is all that significant.  But hey, that trunk definitely looks big enough to do a fair bit of shopping at Costco, don’t you think?

On a serious note though, if you are a Costco UK member and you are in the market for a new car, you should certainly check out the pricing available through the Costco Auto Programme.  The program in the US has gotten a lot of great reviews and people say that it has saved them lots of money on their new vehicles. The programme in the UK is quite similar in that you go through the Costco Auto UK website to locate a dealer for the specific make and model of car that you are looking for that is in your area.  That dealer will provide you with the prearranged Costco member price and you can make your decision from there.  Obviously, you always need to do your research and make sure that you are getting the best deal for you.  Unfortunately, the Costco Auto UK site isn’t as expansive as the site in the US where you can even do vehicle research to find out what care is right for you.  I’m hoping that they add that type of resource in the future though.

In the UK you can also use the Auto Programme to get deals on a Sea Ray boat with special Costco member pricing, extra incentives and even a £300.00 Costco voucher for filling out a survey after your purchase.  There’s also a bit of savings that anyone with a vehicle can take advantage of too.  As a Costco member you an save 15% off parts, service, and accessories, up to £300.00 per transaction, for any vehicle in your household by going through Costco Auto UK.  That is a great deal that would certainly come in handy for those expensive, unexpected car troubles.

So, even if you’re not in the market for a new Maserati, you might want to consider the Costco Auto UK programme for your next purchase, or certainly any time you are in need of parts and service for your existing car.  If you are in the US, you should check out the Costco Auto US site.

What a cool display! Absolutely love Costco and their products. The US stores offer the parts and service discount as well, but I think you have to go through http://www.costcoauto.com. I found them on Facebook and they responded to my inquiry quick and efficiently. Overall great group.

@Jeff – Yes, the Costco Auto US program has the same deal with parts and service stuff but you also need to go through them for participating dealers and all of that. I have a number of posts about Costco Auto US and pretty much all of the comments are really favourable about the program and how smoothly it works.
