Costco US Coupon Book: December 30, 2014 – January 25, 2015

January 3rd, 2015 · 4 Comments

I’m a little late getting this up because I was taking a bit of a break for the holidays, but you’ve still got plenty of coupon shopping time left.  The latest Costco US coupon book started earlier this week on December 29, and runs through most of the month, until January 25.  In the coupon this month there’s a nice savings of $1,600.00 in warehouse savings and another $8,300.00 in online only deals.  This month everything in the book, including the tire coupon, is an instant savings deal.  I think there are plenty of great deals to kick off the new year, including fun things like tax preparation software.

I have uploaded the new Costco US Coupon Book PDF (or view it in the Google PDF viewer) , but you can also view the warehouse coupons on the website.  If you weren’t aware, Costco has updated their coupon policy for “streamlined savings”.  Basically, that means that you won’t have to clip coupons (if you ever needed to for your location anyway) again, but instead you can just show the cashier the coupon book or the smartphone app to redeem any offers marked with a blue arrow (which will make more sense when you see the coupon book).  You can get the app for either iPhone or Android in their respective app stores.  The only coupons that you must have the app or coupon book to redeem are the ones with the blue arrow, but they are all pretty much instant savings deals lately.  For many, they didn’t have to clip coupons anyway, so this isn’t necessarily all that different.  The one big change is that Costco says that they will no longer have extra copies of the coupon book available at the warehouses.   If you didn’t get your book or never do, you should stop by Customer Service and make sure that they have all of your mailing information correct and that you have allowed them permission to send you things in the mail.  Or, just use the Costco smartphone app.  Lastly, you can also view them on the website.  Costco has recently started posting the coupons online and through the app before they actually start (like just a few days after the old ones expire), so that makes it easier and nicer for planning too.

It is nice to see that some things haven’t changed with the new year, Costco’s coupon book still has a tire coupon.  This month, you can get a new set of four Michelin tires for $70.00 off.  You can also take advantage of this coupon online at  Costco is giving you a few additional days to use this coupon as well since it lasts until January 28, which is three days longer than the rest of the coupon book.

Now, I know it isn’t fun to think about doing your taxes right after the holidays, or even getting your finances in order, but it is something that is good to do and you might as well start right at the start of the year.  To help you out with that, Costco has coupons for Intuit software for your regularly, daily finance management, as well as tax prep software.  You can get $10.00 – $15.00 off your copy of TurboTax for this tax year.  Dave and I have been using TurboTax to prepare our taxes for years and years and it continually gets easier to use and makes tax time less daunting, and annoying.  I like that they have an interview style format that let’s you answer easy to understand questions to prepare the practically indecipherable IRS forms.  You never have to look at a form, unless you really really want to do it.  You can also get $20.00 off a copy of Quicken 2015.  This is the perfect way to keep track of all of your finances from daily expenditures from your checking account to long-term savings plans like IRAs or 401(K).  We’ve been using this for years and years too (I think it might be decades now) and it’s been great.  Of course, their one HUGE downfall is that they have a stripped down version for the Mac that makes it less useful so we have to run it in a more complicated way (using a virtual machine).  So just be aware of that if you’ve got a Mac at home.

This coupon book is the perfect time to re-stock your cleaning supplies, personal or house, for the year.  They’ve got a lot of coupons for laundry, dishwashing, and general cleaning products.  Then they’ve also got a lot of products to keep your hair clean, your legs or face shaved, skin moist, and your teeth in tip top shape.  If everyone in your house has a cold, like they do in mine right now, then you’ll definitely want to take advantage of the $3.50 off the Kleenex multi-packs.  To me it looks like this type of thing makes up the majority of the book, which is great if you need to stock up on all of this type of thing.

If you’re a new, or new-ish, mom and dad, you’ll probably be thrilled to see the coupons for Huggies.  You can save $6.00 off a box of Huggies Snug and Dry Diapers in sizes 1 – 6.  There’s also a coupon for $5.00 off a box of 1,160 Huggies Natural Care Plus Baby Wipes.  The good news is that you can even get these deals through if you can’t make it into the warehouse.  The bad news is that there’s a limit of just two on each of these deals.

Be very carefull of the version of turbo tax you buy this year. Turbo tax “realigned” their products and basicly the lower versions have fewer features this year. You may have to buy a more expensive version to do what you always did with a cheaper version. Check the amazon reviews and see how upset and disappointed the customers are. That being said, the costco discounts for turbotax are very decent.

Hi Kimberly – I have a MAC and have been using TurboTax to prepare taxes for several years. Do you mind to explain further about the following comment: “….one HUGE downfall is that they have a stripped down version for the Mac that makes it less useful so we have to run it in a more complicated way (using a virtual machine)……” Thank you for sharing all the information about Costco.

@Tammy – I was talking about Quicken with that statement, which we also use and is also having a coupon this month. Quicken is very much not the full product on the Mac, with lots of differences. However, TurboTax is the same from what I can tell.
